Just some statistics I read at http://channels.netscape.com/ns/news/package.jsp?name=fte/isahell/isahell
It's interesting (to me) because
A) it shows how stupid and hypocritical some so-called Christians are.
and
B) It shows how stupid and hypocritical some so-called athiests and agnostics are.
We don't mind embracing religious contradictions:
10 percent of born-again Christians, who believe entry into heaven is based solely on confession of sins and faith in Jesus Christ, also believe in reincarnation, which violates Christian tenets.
33 percent of born-again Christians think it really is possible to communicate with the dead.
50 percent of born-again Christians believe a person can earn salvation based on good deeds without accepting Christ as the way to eternal life.
Half the agnostics and atheists surveyed believe that everyone has a soul, heaven and hell exist, and there is life after death.
One in eight atheists and agonistics believe that accepting Jesus Christ as one's savior probably makes life after death possible.

I am passing this on to you because it has definitely worked for me...and we all could use a little...calm!!!
By following the simple advice I read in an article, I have finally found inner peace........the article read:
"The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you've started." So I looked around the house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished....and before going to work this morning I finished off a bottle of red wine, a bottle of white, the Bailey's, Kahlua and TiaMaria, my Prozac, some valium, my cigarettes and a six pack of beer. You have no idea how freakin good I feel....
You may pass this on to those you feel are in need of Inner Peace...

That article is incorrect.
"33 percent of born-again Christians think it really is possible to communicate with the dead."
It says that's a religious contradiction. However, it is not. That is possible under Christianity.
-----
It is not possible to talk to the dead. If you think you are, you're actually talking to Satan, since Satan is on earth and can be communicated with, but dead people are long since gone from this planet. Well, that's what the Bible says, which is what I believe.
I am a Catholic, if anyone cares.
and yes, most stats are made up. But whatever...just postin' some stats. If you dont' like them, give me a -2.

Most of the people who responded below are correct.
Also...it's "42.7%" of all statistics are made up on the spot.

I'm not hypocritical, at least not in this case. I'm not a christian though
I hope there is something there.
Thanks for the stats though.

Oh yeah, and...
There are HEAPS of "religious" and non-religious hypocrites out there.
Being hyprocritical isn't limited to one group of people.
And, they polled Americans.... enough said.
AND- even Satan believes in God.

I hate religious- and especially christian- stereotypes and buzz words. Thing is- if these
people are really "born-again"- ie. REAL TRUE 100% Disciplined Christian people, then
those things are not possible for them. Therefore the site should say 10% of people who
CLAIM to be born again christians also think pedophiles are cool.....
There are so few people out there that even understand remotely what "being a christian"
means. People throw it around and get really confused.
So you want to know what it really means to be a christian- read the bible.
Because that tends to clear things up.
And if it doesn't, either you didn't read the whole thing, or you read it wrong.
Human misinterpretation and misrepresentation wreck it every time.
Score one for Satan.

Alex will probably say I'm stupid and hypocritical for writing this but fuck it, I'm not scared.
I clicked on your link to see stats for myself. The second paragraph was very telling about these statistics. See what you think.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's the word from the Barna Research Group, an independent marketing research firm that has tracked trends related to beliefs, values, and behaviors for almost two decades. This poll surveyed 1,000 randomly selected adults in every state except Hawaii and Alaska.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
From that limited poll they determined that quite a few people seem to have various personal opinions that contradict their religious affiliation. Let's hear that again -
People have various personal opinions that contradict their religious affiliation.
These differing opinions DO NOT make them stupid and hypocritical. It makes them human beings with free will.
You are right about one thing. This is not a religious debate. This is you desperately trying to prove your opinion that some Christians, Agnostics and Atheists are stupid and hypocritical using questionable facts from a questionable source.

Agnostic is the state of not knowing what is after dumbshit.
most people have theories of what they think is after life but no one is certain.
I like to believe im agnostic and i believe in a soul, i dont necessarily believe that a god exists though and i dont believe in heaven.
