NEW YORK - Pornographer Larry Flynt says he bought nude photos of Pfc. Jessica Lynch to publish in Hustler magazine, but changed his mind because she's a "good kid" who became "a pawn for the government."
Flynt told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he bought the photos last month from the men who purportedly participated in the amateur shoot with the Army supply clerk. The soldiers "wanted to let it be known that she's not all apple pie," Flynt said.
"My first intention was to publish them, but I don't think it was the best, positive move I could make," Flynt said in a telephone interview. "She's very much a pawn for the government. They force-fed us a Joan of Arc."
In an interview with the AP on Tuesday, Lynch declined to comment on any aspect of the matter, including whether such photos exist.
Her attorney, Stephen Goodwin, said in a statement: "It's incredulous that anyone would think it appropriate in any way to attempt to publish unauthorized photos of Jessica — photos taken before she was deployed to Iraq (news - web sites) and before her capture and rescue."
The interview with Lynch was scheduled to publicize her biography, "I Am a Soldier, Too: The Jessica Lynch Story," which was released Tuesday. It covers the days between March 23, when her 507th Maintenance Company convoy was ambushed in Nasiriyah, and April 1, when she was evacuated from a hospital by U.S. commandos.
After her rescue, the young soldier from Palestine, W.Va., was celebrated as a hero prisoner of war.
Goodwin also said Lynch had never claimed to be a hero, saving that description for her rescuers.
"She is and will remain — not a Joan of Arc, not a hero — but a young woman honestly and openly dealing with the high price she has paid for proud service to her country," he said.
Flynt said the photographs appeared to be taken in an Army barracks, and showed Lynch topless and fully nude, frolicking with the soldiers.
He would not say what he paid for the photographs, which he said he'd lock in a vault.
"Some things are more important than money," he said. "You gotta do the right thing."
Flynt has been paralyzed from the waist down since an assassination attempt in 1978. His magazine won a landmark Supreme Court decision in 1988 that held that even pornographic spoofs enjoy First Amendment protection.

I don't know how everybody feels about Jessica Lynch. Some people hate her for what happened, some people want to believe she was a hero(mostly because of what the govt said). But anyway you look at it she got a shit sandwich, ambushed when she didn't expect to ever see combat (I know she should have been ready and did recieve training for it), severly wounded (still has problems controling her bowel movements and uses crutches), and to top it off was raped by some camel jockey, oh yeah analy raped. Last thing she needs is someone posting naked photos of her. I never thought I would say it but I am proud of Larry Flint. Good on him for not posting those pics, but these things have a way of getting out, and I am sure if they are real they will be seen eventually. I ust wish whoever does share them gets a beating as bad as she got.

You are probably right about Larry and the pictures.
But as far as her being able to walk away and be forgotten, you are way off. One, even if she did say nothing and just ignored the news stories about her and refused interviews, the truth about what happened would have come out, and she would be hounded by the press even more because the truth is not what the Govt gave the public and they would want to know why she went along with the Govts story. Two, if you are on the cover of every newspaper in the country do you think you could ignore what they are saying? We are having a meaningless argument on the internet that will probably be read by maybe 20 people, and you are probably going to respond to this, but if it was something personal about you read by millions of people you could just ignore it, right.

I like Larry. But you know the best thing about Larry. He is a two face, lieing, cheating, filandering son of a bitch.Ie a business man in a tough business.

Sorry did I get it wrong? Did he say he was going to destroy the pictures?
By not destroying the pictures he keeps the hook in that he may publish, he may sell them for a nice profit, or they may accidentally appear in some foreign mag in the near future. RESULT more publicity for him. You bet your arse if they are real they will come out.
As far as JL is concerned. She says she ain't a hero. Well what the fuck could she say she isn't.
And yes she could have walked away from it all. She could have dissapeared into the boondies from whence she came, not signed any book deal, not signed any movie deal, and not appeared on tv screens across the world for interviews. You know what those photos would be worth if she had walked. Answer five eighths of fuck all.
Did she? No because the bottom line is she is an attention whore.

dakingisdead, yes she did put out a book, but what would you do? let the govt put words in your mouth and make you out to be a hero, and just go along with it? maybe you would, but i wouldn't, and good for her to stand up and give her side of the story, and for her to constantly emphasize she is not a hero. so what she is selling the movie and book rights to her story, if she didn't they would make it abyway. the way i see it she was accidently put in a horrible condition, and the way the govt handled it gave her no choice but to stand up and give her side. i think it is a shitty little story and in a year nobody will remember her, but if pictures of her were published it would follow her forever and i think she has gone through enough. maybe larry flint doesn't have the pics, or maybe they are ugly, or probably he is a better man than you.

Not just because she was in the war (making a huge sacrifice for her country) but because a terrible thing happened to her and she was forced into the limelight because of it, and because a bunch of people hate her because people tried to make her into a hero something she never wanted.
