It seems I always get weird comments about the glasses I wear...ever hear that song "I wear my sunglasses at night"? Well, that's me. I never really thought about why I do that until someone commented today to me about I seem like a weirdo when I always wear my glasses. I thought about why I do wear my glasses when a idea came to me.
When we were kids, we looked out windows. When we rode the bus to school or rode with our parents in the car. When we were sick we looked out the windows longingly at our playmates(Same with being grounded). We watched a big world from a little persons perspective, envying and wanting to be part of it. Everything seemed fantastic and fun, from motercycles to big 18 wheelers to scooters. Big people did big things outside our windows everyday and we were amazed. Maybe that's why I wear my glasses all the time, trying to recreate the wonder that we all had at one point about living in this world. The sense that everything was new and exciting, and maybe a little kinder. Maybe it's grasping for the time when I was a little more innocent and accepting than I am today, or maybe I am hoping for a little of that spark of imagination and curiousity that leap out of me when I'd see snow falling for the first time.
Maybe I wear my sunglasses to help me take in some of the things that children never saw when they looked out thier windows.
