I took Legs back to my office.
"Little Moscow is no place for a lady, no matter what she's made of," I told her.
She smiled. I had her sit down on my couch and I put a blanket over her. It was a shame to cover up those legs, but I guess I'm just a gentleman like that. Plus that whole protective male thing comes into play when I start to fall for a woman.
She smiled again. She was almost attractive when she smiled. I actually found myself leaning toward her. I was going to kiss her! And I saw in her eyes that she wanted that, too. Our lips were about an inch apart.
The phone rang. I looked at her, feeling kind of embarrassed. Then I smiled and got up to answer the phone.
"Anton," I said.
"Dosvidanya," the voice on the other line said. "This is Fyodor Petrovich. I believe you know me, no?"
I immediately saw red. My mind swirled with rage. But I kept it cool. "Yes, I know you," I answered through gritted teeth.
"Good. I believe you have something I want. I have its power source. Bring it to me and there will be no problems. I will even pay you handsomely."
"I don't know what you're talking about, Mr. Petrovich," I said.
"I believe you do, Mr. Anton. In fact, I'm quite sure of it. A shapely, attractive young woman with dark hair and eyes. She is called Andrea or AU-052076."
He had everything right except the attractive part. But then, I didn't know what passed for attractive in Russia. We were talking about the same girl.
"What if I don't want to give her up?"
Petrovich laughed. "Now why wouldn't you want to give her up? She's just a thing, Mr. Anton. She may look like the most beautiful girl you've even seen, but she's nothing more than nuts and bolts, no? So please, bring the unit to me and you will see your bank account increase by a few million dollars. Do we have a deal?"
"A few million, huh? It's tempting. But I must know, if she's just nuts and bolts, why do you want her so much?"
"That's not your concern, Mr. Anton. Just bring us the unit."
"What for? So you can leave her face down in an alley like you did Delilah Morgan? I don't think so." I slammed the phone down.
Legs heard it all. She looked sad and worried. "Just give me to them. I don't want you to get hurt."
"Listen," I said. "I'm no philosopher or anything, but it's pretty clear to me that you are more than just a robot. You have feelings. You are, for lack of a better work, sentient. You don't deserve to be traded like a slave. You . . . you deserve to be loved."
I sat down next to her and I could feel the anger and hatred leave my body like water spilling through a sieve. I leaned toward her again. This time our lips met. Her mouth was soft and warm and delicious. Her tongue explored my mouth expertly. I pulled away and looked into those eyes. They were stunningly beautiful and I did get lost in them. I looked into them for what seemed both seconds and days. We disrobed and we made love.
The pane on her back was the only part of her body that was not completely human and feminine.
To be continued . . .

Looks like we're back to posting at the same time, Samover. At least we have a few posts between ours.
