That quiz was horribly stupid. They based a person's intelligence on Bible knowledge, knowledge about where certain objects were invented, knowledge of how many people died in Hiroshima, knowledge of who surrendered to the U.S. as Emperor of Japan. Really the whole thing focused on WW2, some capitols of countries and where the Beatles started playing (I HAVE NO IDEA). Jealous much you petty wankers? America is the greatest country in the world and the proof is that people moan about us all the time.

I got a 15, but as these questions came up, I found myself asking, "Who cares? What useless information."
You know what the best part about being an American is? I don't have to care. I care what happens in America. If something else is going on that doesn't directly involve Americans, I don't care. I don't give a damn about other cultures, other languages, or any other place above a simply trivial level of knowledge.
See, America is big enough, and self contained enough (not totally, but enough) that we can afford this view. I think everyone else is just jealous because they're either to small, too weak, or too poor and are all interdependant on each other. How cute.
You may think I'm some ignorant prick, but you should know that my life rules. Why would I want to bother myself with everyone else's problems? It is someone else's job to provide me with the freedoms I enjoy. It is someone else's job to care what goes on in other places. If I were a female, I would undoubtedly be a busy-body gossiper and then I might care about other people's business and tell them how to do their job, but I'm not.
If this were it's own post, I'd really get flamed.

Heh... very good. did it twice, 18 and 19 scores each time. Might have something to do with the frequency at which questions of Russian history kept appearing but that is beside the point.

yah, it took me four tries, but my score progressed from 14 to 15 to 19 to 20, finally. i did shitty the first time cuz i got like 5678 religion questions. why??? yah i gotta agree that theres an inherent bias because the questions are hardly an accurate representation of the whole (of what an intelligent and well educated person would know). too much on religion, too much on the middle east, not enough on science or math, etc.

If you click American initially, you get a somewhat offensve bullshit retort about how you're about as intellectual as the average schooled individual of any other country (which is bullshit).
If you click Anywhere other than America initially, you get something like "you're an intelligent and worldly being" or some shit... I exaggerated the point there, but it's horse shit.

The questions were largely irrelevant to the world at large. How does knowing that bronze is an alloy of copper and tin relate to anything the average person in the world needs to know?

Many of those questions seemed utterly irrelevant to intelligence. For example, why would knowing where the Beatles first played, or knowing which countries have the highest percentages of obese adults, or knowing whether Iraq never prohibitted alcohol make you smart?

For an American, your knowledge of the world and its history is surprisingly good. About the same as the average school-age person in any other country. If you are at school, congratulations. If you are an adult, try harder. Read books, visit other countries, and watch less television. Learn to understand the world better and you could become an ambassador for your country, demonstrating that Americans are not all stupid.
