As far as i can tell, and i am relatively new, the purpose of posts such as this that get on the most heated list is to provide a kind of chat room facility. People bark away at each other and get quick responses.
Is this somehow a bad thing?
I can't really see why. Some of the dialogues that develop can be quite amusing.
But more importantly, if you don't want to play you don't have to.
When i first started visiting uber there was some commotion about someone called kirsty swan. i had no interest in it. Although there were many posts mentioning her, there were many more that did not. I used uber quite actively throughout the kirsty period without her impinging on my pleasure at all. Whether or not she got lots of hits and topped certain lists was something that never crossed my mind. In fact, it was only recently that i found out she is apparenlty a fabrication of a man.
I guess I am puzzled as to why people seem to view these kind of inane chat room type posts as some sort of evil that is undermining uber. If they were all uber offered, of course it would be very dull. But if uber was just a collection of ernest 'quality' posts crafted by aspiring writers that too could be a bit dull.
Also, there seems to be a double standard. If someone (especially a well known and popular uberite)puts up a post saying for example "Here are some of my favourite uberusers, they rock!" and a chat room type post of the usual amusing inanity ensues, no one complains.
Or am I missing something? Are the complaints about posts such as this one and the warnings to stay away from them (for the good of uber) intended as irony?
Its all too subtle for me.

the simple solution would be to boil your head in the microwave.
step one: obtain large PLASTIC bowl. (do not use metal, it may damage the microwave, glass is acceptable, but you must be careful not to cut yourself.)
step two: set microwave power to high.
step three: set timer to 24 minutes. (the average human head weighs about 8 lbs, at 3 minutes a pound it works out nicely.)
step four: jamb fork into door sensor to allow you to turn microwave on without closing the door.
