Why is it that so many people crave attention so badly, they will do just about anything to get it? It reminds me of my brother when we were kids, if there was nothing to occupy him, he would turn to irritating me for attention. Sure, usually it ended up in a gigantic fistfight or me throwing a chair at him, but it served his purpose right?
The thing is, even he GREW UP. My ex had a similar attitude. If she couldn't get attention from me, she would keep bothering me until i would either give up what i was doing (usually studying or trying to play my bass), or she would start a fight. Attention is attention right? Sure we would be pissed off at each other, but at least i was paying attention to her, because that's all that mattered. The kind of attention didn't matter, it was all about GETTING attention. Unfortunately, she DIDN'T grow up.
I'm not even going to try to understand why people will go to such lengths for attention, that's not what's important. What's important here folks, is that it is pathetic. It may be understandable for a child, but after you've started growing some pubes, you should be secure enough in yourself to not crave attention for the sake of attention. So i read around on uber, and inevitably someone shows up, makes a couple of posts which get trashed by us nice folks, throws a fit and then makes their "Fuck you I'm leaving" post, only to come back and think they will "terrorize" the site by flooding posts, starting shit, or the ULTIMATE in lashing out, the -2. Yes, that *dreaded* -2. The sheer sting of getting a -2 is so unbearable. Ouch, i think i'm still reeling from the last one. These are the kind of people I started talking about. They are the kind of people that crave attention in whatever form they can get it. What's even MORE pathetic though, is that THIS IS THE FUCKING INTERNET YOU LOSERS! how pathetic is your tiny life that you not only seek out attention on the internet (not all that sad in and of itself, all of us seek attention here in some form or another. i use uber as an escape from work and to talk to some people other than the same people i see every day.), but you will go to whatever lengths you need to get it. After all, infamy is just as good as fame, right? to be hated is just as good as to be loved, right? WRONG ASSHOLES. you have a problem, a serious problem. you need to find something in real life to do. you need to leave your mom's house occaisionally or you will never meet people in the real world. once you actually meet real people, you might not need to act like a giant fucking crybaby to get attention. and better yet, you might even learn to get POSITIVE attention.
and what's the deal with alter-egos on this site? i really don't understand the whole concept. Murphy's prank was funny, but it was just that, A PRANK. mick had/has and alter that pretty much only posted quotes from one flew over the cuckoos nest (i think), and haven't seen him around much. but other people, seems like they invent alters to get attention. is your normal personality too boring? are you sad that after posting here for a whole week, nobody is "buddy buddy" with you? so you make a stupid alter and devise your devious plan to get attention from all at uber. KS did it with swiped cam-whore photos, McBonehead did it with obnoxious racist comments that were totally planned to try and get the most heated list. and both of them did, but ya know what? everyone still hates them (well, in the case of KS, everyone started hating "her" once they picked their tounges up out of their laps long enought to realize that wasn't a real chick, let alone the chick in the pictures). what i'd like to know is, does it satisfy your pathetic hunger for attention, whether it is good or bad? i'm sure those who created the alters think "Oh ho ho, i'm so fucking witty!". No, you aren't. You're just stealing an idea that someone had a long time ago. you are not original. you are not witty. you did not pull a fast one. you are just annoying, childish, and pathetic. another take on this is the kind of people that are too scared to say what they really want to say with their username showing on the post/review, so in a fit of chickenshittedness (yeah, that's a word because i fucking said it is) they create an alter-ego to say things they are too scared to. like i said above, i have no idea why people are like that, what is important here is that it's pathetic.
and speaking of the most heated list, why does anyone care? does nobody realize that 99% of the time the top posts on the most heated list are pure crap, written by the types of idiots i just outlined? when was the last fucking time a really GOOD post was up there? and i'm not talking about decent stuff, i'm talking about the real creme-de-la-creme, like "Etiquette of the Man Hug", or "Badass Austrailian Cows". Sure, those are pretty rare, and we all are going to have different opinions of what makes a really great post, but i think we would all be unanimous in saying that "Most Heated" almost always equates to "annoying piece of shit written by some teenage malcontent who got pissed off that his first two posts about highschool sucking and his imaginary mack-daddy status and made an alter-ego and posted some hyped up bullshit because he/she knew it would get a shitload of hits".
now i leave you with the obligatory "don't feed the bears!" statement. if these poons crave attention so badly, then don't give it to them. nuff said.
and i will now leave you with a question:

of course, everyone is going to have their own view, but i don't take this site "seriously". i find pathetic types that are so desparate for attention that they would stoop to an alter-ego humorous, hence this post. i rarely spend much time writing anything i've posted, though a couple of them you can probably tell i did spend some time on. i don't bitch and cry when my posts, especially the ones i actually put some time into, get generally ignored. sure, i'll point out that everyone bitches about crappy posts, but ignores the good ones, that still doesnt' lead me to create an alter-ego.

Why do people keep taking this site seriously? Uber is a fun distraction when you are in the office and should be working...I have taken time to write out a story a grand total of once, everything else was just stream of consciousness.
If you need validation as a writer or a person from Uber I feel badly for you. Also all the people who have fake Ids I feel badly for you also. If you think something just say it.

**Behavior modification for children
Psychology is a science that has been practiced throughout the centuries and passed on generation to generation. Child psychology is a specialized field modeled after ideal parenting. This sub-science differs in respect to reinforcement, authority, and also methods of punishment. Child psychology is useful in accomplishing many things, ranging from shaping a child's mind set, to teaching them morals. Typically, however, it is used to modify a problem child's behavior.
Unfortunately, once a child reaches adolescence, it becomes much more difficult to shape their behavior. The groundwork must be placed at an early age in order for it to be fruitful. At the age of six children discover compassion and their sense of being. If a child has been raised to believe that they are a useful and essential person in the family, they will strive to increase the well-being of others.
In the worst situations, children discover that they are in a "bad" situation, a situation that has done nothing for them throughout their life. In such circumstances the child will rebel, and reject all morals that are introduced. In such cases it is possible to remedy the behavior through reinforcement and punishment.
In the 1800's children were better behaved and respected authority to a greater extent. Part of the reason for this was their role in their family. If the parents asked them to go collect eggs for breakfast, and they didn't, there were no eggs for breakfast. The consequences were immediately evident to the child.
As shown in the above example, immediate reinforcement or punishment is necessary to shape behavior or create morals. Children must see their role in a family and understand the consequences of delinquent behavior. Reinforcement must never be too strong for then it becomes the object instead of the motivator. Punishment must never be too harsh or fear will captivate the situation, increasing the role of chance in the circumstances.
The American culture does not promote constant and efficient use of child psychology. The role models for child rearing use their reinforcement intermittently and improperly. However, done right, any child can be a lifelong success, and achieve happiness. **

of course, what you fucking lunatics seem to constantly overlook, a user name is not usually a real name. it is itself an alias. sometimes as shandythedog I am quite aggressive and strident in my attacks on people and their views. In real life i am meek (unless drunk).
on the general issue of having multiple user names, i would say its one of the appeals of interaction online. assuming a different character can be a creative exercise, and can also be a way of accessing different parts of your own self. Actors on stage and screen apparently find it quite worthwhile. I understand too that some novelists, even when writing in the first person, are not actually writing about themselves.
Also, the uncertainty over who is writing what can in some ways be a good thing. Wouldn't it be hilarious and brilliant if all these unpopular figures like habeeb and minus2 man etc were actually Bart's creations.
And one final thing - i wish people who stop being so superiour about chat rooms.

I still don't think negative2man proved a point. Why would anyone look towards a website in order to gain attention/acceptance? You can post whatever the hell you want here and it will be noticed. It might not get over 1000 hits or get on the most heated list, but people will read it.
Personally, I don't even think the rating system matters. You post what you want for whatever reason you want, so why even care what sort of attention or rating it gets? A rating is only an opinion, and half of them are biased from the start, so why even bother caring what sort of rating you get, or if you search your user name and it's only been mentioned 12 times?
Post something that is worthy of being posted and you'll gain the respect that post deserves. -2 everyone and make yourself feel better, it's not changing how anything works, or proving some retarded horribly drawn out and illegitimate point, either.

i still can't understand why people are giving those kinds of posts attention. it's so easy to see it's a pathetic cry for help from an angst-filled teenager. seriously, people. if you want to see more quality around here, and less bullshit, you're going to have to learn to ignore the kiddy shit, no matter how much the forces of nature draw you towards the -2 and the rank button. if johnny teenager sees he's not getting the attention here, he'll leave and find another place to get it, as mommy and daddy aren't filling the void. most likely, it will be an AOL or Yahoo! chatroom.

Do you wanna know why I hate übersite so very much?
I can write anything and put it up here under my regular name (which I wont be disclosing) and get ignored by everyone.
I in part began the -2man to prove that bad attention is just as important as good attention, and that the -2 to 2 scale means that idiot and intellects with unpopular opinions are put at the same level.
But -2ing everyone is also a lot of fun.
I never got a hate post under my origional name.
-2man got one in his first day.
See my point.
Anyway......my point is made, so -2man wont be spamming ubersite anymore.

Yes, there is a whole, wide world out there. Chatting to your fat cousin Sue and hugging your dog every night does NOT count as social interaction.
I think the most annoying are the ones too skeered to say something under their own name, so they invent a new one to get things off their chest. I'm probably the person least likely to ever get in your face over something (aside from firefly) but if I can express my anger and/or disappointment and/or complete loathing then anyone should be able to. You would think.
I think it's Christina Aguilera but you had me second guessing myself for a minute.
