given the fairly recent deluge of posts expounding on the subject, i figured this is a great place to post this.
The American Family Association (an anti gay marriage group)is conducting an online poll about gay marriage, and plan to show their results to congress. All of you out there that have argued on all the posts about the subject, go take the poll. The results will be shown to congress, so this is far more effective than arguing with people on the internet, so if you really believe in your position then go take it.
Go here: http://www.marriagepoll.com
and just fyi, i find it really funny that the results so far are overwhelmingly in favor of allowing gay marriages :)

I may not be against gays, or lesbians, or midgets that like to fuck donkeys. That doesn't mean I want to look at them. Fuckface.

I don't understand why peopel get so OFFENDED by "fags". I really don't. Ok, so you find it icky. Then don't have sex with someone of your gender. But keep your laws off their bodies. Yikes. Our Bill of Rights is going to consist of one right, pretty soon...
The right to remain silent.

I would prefer a bit of acceptance over some corny marriage. Why does that pic fuck with your chi so much?
Acceptance, not tolerance.

I vote that we do away with the legal institution of marriage altogether.
Then nobody can tell another person who they can marry.
Strangely enough, that's never an option on any of the polls...

Loki, tell me about it. All fucking flakes; better watch out for those faggo's ... another reason to vote for homosexual marriage: it takes them off the streets. It's one thing to hate homosexuals and another, completely understandable and acceptable thing, to hate a homosexual. I hate most of them but as an entity am completely unphased.

I have some kind of mental block or something but I honestly do not see why this matters to anyone and for sure why they get so upset that they actually have a homosexual issues editor.
What if I'm not so much having issues with homosexuality as having issues with a homosexual? Specifically that he said he was going to go furniture shopping with me and now claims to have the flu - damnit I need to know if the sofa I picked out over powers the room. I also need him to help me convince SeaDog that if we get a new sofa, we also need new curtains and clearly we need to repaint. Plus I want to redo the kitchen and have no idea what to do. Goddamn that man fucking queer.

My favorite part of the following message
is, "AFA has a real love for the homosexual."
Well I have a real love for the dog, the cat, the
horse, but not the pig. And certainly not the
Bible-thumping Christian. (Or the Cow, but don't
tell the Ghandi.)
I'm going to go beat up the pillow now.
-----Forwarded Message-----
Dear David,
I want to take this moment to wish you a Merry
Christmas, and to thank you for signing the
American Family Association's poll on marriage.
This issue in America today is so near and dear
to my heart. As a former homosexual, I believed I
was born "gay." After 11 years in the "gay"
lifestyle my life changed in 1992 when a
Christian woman lovingly confronted me and my
homosexuality with the gospel of Jesus Christ. I
couldn't help but see the truth in God's Word
that my homosexuality was sin before a holy God.
Lives world wide are being changed daily by the
power of Jesus Christ. I am one of thousands of
men and women who have walked away from
homosexuality, and who have become the men and
women that God has created us to be.
The American Family Association has a real heart
to reach America with the truth about
homosexuality, take an uncompromising stand on
God's Word and defend the sanctity and holiness
of heterosexual marriage. More importantly, we do
so because AFA has a real love for the homosexual.
We are all sinners and all need a Savior -- and
His name is Jesus Christ. What better time of
year than this Christmas season to give your life
to Jesus Christ. I highly recommend the website
http://www.needhim.org.
If you or someone you know is struggling with
homosexuality, I encourage you to visit the AFA
website where you can hear my testimony and find
a variety of resources to help the homosexual.

tml]
May God bless you this Christmas season as we
celebrate the birth of that precious baby in a
manger who came for one reason -- to die on that
cross for sinners like you and me.
With love this Christmas,
Stephen Bennett
Homosexual Issues Editor
American Family Association

Despite whatever newsletter that is going around, it's a question of activity. All I'm saying is that if I were a member of that 'awesome group,' I wouldn't go vote in some inconsequential poll online, even if it was on a contemporary issue I STRONGLY disagreed with. Complacency (sp?) > all.

Smitty: Are they black with white feathers or white with black feathers?
URL: It don't matter baby, they're all beautiful!
[They hug.]
Bender: Yo, screws, more Tegrin over here? [He sees them hugging.] Oh ho, what's this?
[He ducks behind an ice rock, pulls a tuxedo out of his chest cabinet and puts it on. He lowers his legs to penguin height and wanders over to the flock of penguins and cackles evily. Smitty and URL stop hugging and look around. Bender is gone.]
URL: Aww man, he got away!
Smitty: I guess this is why chief says no hugging.

It says on the poll that it will be shown to congress. What's that point if GB already made that thingy that stops gay marriges?"
because that can be overturned, and likely will due to the volatile nature of the subject.

Their initial point was to probably show Bush the number of people that approved of his gay-marriage blockade. I don't think they intended for the poll to show the opposite. Now that it does, what do you think the chances are Congress sees it?"
good point, i wouldn't be surprised if this poll never surfaces in any congressional hearings.

The reason for an overwhelming amount of 'for' votes is that there aren't as many people who would take the time out of their day to vote on a website against gay marriage in some random poll."
the poll is being run by the American Family Association, who are vehemently against gay marriage. they are extremely conservative and religious. anyone that is signed up for their "acion alert" email list has been emailed urging them to take the poll.
go here and be afraid. be very afraid.
