If you have not yet seen this movie then you must have been living under a rock. It runs on a 24 hour marathon on TBS every christmas. This is its 20 year anniversery and it still gets funnier everytime I hear, "you'll shoot your eye out kid"
Thats right folks I'm talking about a Chrismas Story. The Epic plot of little Ralphie, with the help of the little Orphan Annie Club, he vows his life, that for chrismas this year he will get an Official Red Ryder Carbine Action 200 shot Range Model Air Rifle with a compass and a stalk and this thing which tells time. Wow that's Great!
Throught his quest he is foiled by foney santa's, school bullies, flat tires, and of course Black Bart. Not to mention the alliance his mother and teacher have together. Dangerous adventures with his friends as the triple dogg dare there way though elementary school. Nasty run-ins with the Bumpusses dog's, and bars of soap try to keep him down. Even when his sidekick annie let him down with a crummy Ovaltine comercial, Ralphie manages to keep his hope alive.
As chrismas grows nearer the anticipation builds and the family is greeted with an early christmas present in the form of a lamp. Tensions mount in the household as his father is frustrated with the
oldsmobile and the furnice and his temper finally blows as his wife breaks the lamp out of jealousy.
Chrismas day is here, and after going through present, after stinkin bunny outfit present. Ralphie is greated with Holy Grail of Chrismas Presents, The Red Rider! He is so jubilant that he runs out of the house without a jacket looking for anything in sight. Move and your dead, sucka! So with steady aim, he cocks back his might weapon and..............................
Well if you don't know watch the damn movie!
And if not for all that watch it for his winey little tagalong brother who can't put his arms down.
Merry Christmas from Ralphie, Txyankee and the Staff at the Chinese Resurant
Deck the hows wif bows of frolly

The Ref is a timeless classic.
I loaned my copy of A Christmas Story to a coworker. She's concerned that it has a PG rating. Her kids are 5 and 7. She's going to watch it before she lets them see it just to be sure they won't be corrupted or something. Can you say over protected?

I'm actually pretty neutral on "A Christmas Story" - it just doesn't get me the way it does for many people - but I also was subjected to about a week straight of it last year with my roommate. She was crazy mad for it.
"We know that when the Queens speach comes on, we're just an hour away from one of those fantastic classics and its time to get the turkey sandwiches and teapot ready."
That reminds me of the time I spent in England...my family lived there for about a year and I remember at one point standing out by the road at some friends' grandmother's place waiting for the Queen to drive past...not to meet her, mind you, but to watch her car go past. (Grandma gave us all Cadbury Fruit and Nut candy bars, as well, which I highly reccommend, and am addicted to to this day.) I wish that the President had the same kind of...drawing power I guess?...that the Queen seems to. Is it just my memory, having witnessed the English people's connection with the Queen as an 8 year old that makes me think of the status this way?
I got all serious there. I have no excuse. Sorry dude.

Christams Story is great but by far the best Christmas show is the original Dr. Seuss animated version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
I never get tired of tha one.

I always like either Ghostbusters (which I watched last night to get in the Christmas mood) or the Goonies.
You must understand that *these* types of films are Christmas CLASSICS in the UK, along with:
Marry Poppins
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (whoever thought up that title is the best title writer ever dont you think)
Any Star Wars and or Star Trek Film
Indiana Jones (all three)
The Goonies
Ghostbusters (number one mind you)
Gremlins (any of them)
James Bond (also the staple of a bank holiday)
and last but not least...
Superman
We dont go in for all the christmassy films - our country invested in the movies above in the late eighties/early nineties and feel that we dont need any others to get us through the festive season.
And we dont. We know that when the Queens speach comes on, we're just an hour away from one of those fantastic classics and its time to get the turkey sandwiches and teapot ready.

I always liked 'It's A Wonderful Life' and 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'
My favourite part is where he gets that big pink bunny suit. Shades of awful gifts of Christmases past...

Although I agree that 'A Christmas Story' is a very good Christmas movie, it doesn't come anywhere near 'The Nightmare Before Christmas.'
