Ok here's a question for anyone that's black:
Now that their slogan is "i'm lovin' it," which is obviously directed toward African-Americans (hence the all lowercase letters and vernacular spelling, because everyone knows that blacks can't read or write properly), do you feel more "connected" to the McDonald's corporation? Just wondering.
Do these commercials with rap and such really make people want to go to McDonald's more? Does it affect anyone? I mean, everyone knows about McDonald's and the food they have. Do they even need commercials anymore?
I guess they do, and apparently the offensive slogan wasn't enough, because now they've introduced a new fried chicken item to their menu to draw the darkies through those golden arches.
What's next? Ronald McDonald showcasing the new Collard Green salad (available now through 1/22/04 at participating stores)? Come on, McDonald's. What happened to the friendly neighborhood burger stand we used to know? That little place where you could go in, get a good meal, and not feel like you're in a UPN sitcom?
Oh, and they've also brought in the McChicken Fajita. So whether you're black, Hispanic, or just plain ethnic, you can be offended by McDonald's attempts to "capture" everything your race holds dear.
