This website is apparently trying to disprove all urban lengends.
Instead of searching for what could be there, they immediately assume
that whoever began the story must not have had any basis for their story.
They said the ghost of the boy killed in the home of the taping of Three
Men and a Baby was simply a cardboard cut-out.
They also said that the munchin suicide from Wizard of Oz was a bird, but
I'll talk about that in a moment.
So, to my story...
In my town in West Virginia, there is a storefront on the original main street. For awhile, it was a home, then a paint store, and now, an empty shell. When it was a home, there was a man and his 6 year old son who lived there.
The wife had died in child birth, and the man drank at night to escape thoughts of his wife's death. He blamed his young son for her death. Because of the drinking and the blame he placed on the child, he beat the son regularly without reason.
The son would spend the day looking out the window each day when his father left for work and waiting for him to come home. Each day, he hoped his father would come home and love him.
Finally, one night, the father came home from work in a drunken rage and beat the son to death. In the middle of the fight, the neighbors called the police because they could hear someone pounding on the windows of the building.
The father was sent to jail, but his son remains attached to the building.
When it became a paint store, they reported paint cans being tossed across the store at customers. Also, when you drive by the store, you can see him staring out the window, waiting for his father. At night, neighboring buildings complain about people pounding on the windows. You can see him beating tiny fists on the window for help at night.
It really is very scary to drive past there at any time of the day. The funny thing is everyone in town knows about it, but no one will talk about it.
Now, the Wizard of Oz thing...
On the website, they offer you a video as proof the the suicide was only
a bird. The supposed suicide occurs about 3-5 seconds before Dorothy and
the Tinman, Lion, and Scarecrow dissappear off the trail, there is a blip.
As far as I can tell, (I rented the VHS movie to see and it is there also),
the blip looks like a person.
See for yourselves. The first one is the hanging...The second is the ghost that appears on the trail.

oh yeah, and the bar I used to work at had a ghost. His name is Harvey. Most of the town is built on Indian burial grounds, so there's stuff happeneing all the time. Harvey lives in the basement, and I think he's a kid, he plays practical jokes all the time, turniong lights back on, playing with the kids of the managers and tipping over chairs. I've seen him a couple times, when I went downstairs to get more back stock for the bar, or something for the kitchen. It's kinda scary, but it's not that scary in the basement, when you know he's there, it kinda makes it less scary, cuz usually once a week or so, a drunk would wander down there and get lost. THAT'S scary!

oh oh, the wizard of oz thing is sooo scary! I used to LOVE that movie, and had it on tape. as I grew up, I taped over parts of the movie with other things (new kids on the block prime time specials and such) I still have the tape, and I was watching it, to see if anything worth while was still on the tape. The entire wizar of oz movie is taped over, EXCEPT for a 45 second time right at that scene!! Coincidence??

I remember something from high school about a picture from either Huck Finn or Tom Sawyer that showed a guy with a stiffy - ooh I'm gonna tell.
I think we're all missing the point here though. The point is that Mr.Boo has the Wizard of Oz on DVD.
We're off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz - come on Mr.Boo sing along with me.

If a munchkin committed suicide on the set the studio would of spun that into publicity. To me it doesn't look like a bird or a munchkin. It looks more like a black blob.
"As to the Dark Side of the Moon thing. I was amazed by that back in High School while being under the influence of several choice drugs. "
Last year we rented a movie theater and did this for an audience of 120 people. We spliced the cd to a 3/4" dub of the movie and it was absolutely amazing. I find it hard to believe that all those 1's and 0's line up like they do. If it wasn't intentional, then it was certainly a miracle.
That still blows my mind. What a great way to watch that movie too. I hate the original singing so nothing's better than replacing that bullshit with some good old PF!

I don't care what any one says... in the Wizard of Oz the guy hangs himself,in 3 Men and Baby there's the ghost of the dead boy, in Aladdin, the Little Mermaid, the Rescuers, and the Lion King there are hidden sexual undertones whether they are whispered by the Genie, drawn onto the movie box, quickly flash by as little mice are flying past city windows, or are cleverly sketched into a cloud of dust that rises as Simba falls down. IT'S ALL TRUE I TELL YOU!!!
Man, I love urban legends like this... don't even get me started on ghosts.

the little mermaid/lion king things are done for attention. distortion so that you remember... jkcinemas.com did a little spiel on the whole thing. pepsi did it in the 80's so that you would read SEX down the side of two cans set on top of each other.

Funny how this has come up. I was watched the Wizard of Oz about a month on DVD and I noticed the figure you have tried to outline. I paused and zoomed in and it looked to me to be a hung bird, so I'm going to have to say that it was a shadow of a bird. Just because you brought it up, I'll watch that part of the movie again tonight and try to deceipher (sp?) it a little more.

Here is a theory, it's possible that it was some kind of production snafu. I know nothing about it so take that for what it's worth, but I have heard that a lot of the time when you see images of ghosts in a picture, it's just a reflection of the lens.
Glam may know more about that, his womanz is a photographer.
I've done that Dark Side of the Moon thing - it's cool as hell.
In other news, I'm pretty sure that you can pass out at a party and wake up missing a kidney. :P
I love urban legends.

The Wizzard of Oz thing has been disputed by all of the remaining living munchkins. They all say that it was a bird caught in the nettting near the ceiling.
As to the Dark Side of the Moon thing. I was amazed by that back in High School while being under the influence of several choice drugs.
I still can't watch Return to Oz. That movie just scares me.

I can't see anything hanging in that first picture because it's so fuzzy, but +2 because urban legends - whether or not they're true - never fail to send chills down my spine.

Spike, there is actually a haunting there. I can only tell the story as I know it, and I know it does sound cheesy. However, the aura around the building, the treatment of the building by my town, and the fact that I've seen the little boy myself...Well, it makes it a bit more real for me.
The Wizard of Oz thing sounds far fetched, I know. My boyfriend and I caught the blip while watching the little video that comes with the snopes website. I just wondered if anyone else had picked up on it. I agree with WillZone though--there are no recorded deaths during that time. However, it is still strange to me that a little person's ghost would show up, if that is what it is...I get the creeps from looking at it to be honest :D
Loki, I had heard that and it is true....

Thanks for the story, but I approach it with the distinct taste of salt in my mouth.
I honestly can't tell what the picture is, but I don't believe that it's common for "ghosts" to appear at the moment of death. Otherwise, wouldn't we always take photos of people as they die so we could photograph their souls? I mean, that would be so freakin cool that someone would have discovered it by now and everyone would know about it. It would become a common ritual in our society when someone was expected to die to try to photograph their death.
As to the story with the little boy, it sounds a bit far fetched and predictable, what with the boy waiting in the window for his father to love him and all. Maybe it began with a kernel of truth and got twisted down the line. I don't disbelieve you, but it has an urban legend feel to it, even if there truly is a haunting going on. But that's natural, I suppose.

Have you ever noticed that when they put those 10 most haunted places stories on the travel channel, the places are all hotels now? Hmmm now wonder why a hotel would want people to think it was haunted.
I've seen the story about Three Men and a Baby, but the Wizard of Oz thing is new. Have you heard the one about Darkside of the Moon?

ok...are you serious...i beleive snopes.com the ghost in the movie is fake they debunk it well on the site...they even show the cardboard cutout in the movie...
and as for OZ. it can't be a person, cause to be a lifesize person that was depicted so far, they would have to be far away....much further than the amount of space on that soundstage... if anything its a something on a rope that fell in the back...a sandbag perhaps...
no deaths were recorded in any paper during that time...espcially on the set of a then HUGE, i mean HUHGE hollywood flick.
tall tales.
weird though about the ghost in your town...that is of course of ghosts exist.
