Lately I've noticed that the political ranks on Uber are starting to level out.
It used to be quite liberally minded until roughly sometime in the spring of 2003.
After which, cartloads of conservatives crawled out of their comfortable worlds
and have made a concerted effort to have their voices heard.
I consider myself to be a little off center(in more ways than one) and hanging
slightly to the left(as is the usual case). You might say that I'm 3/4's liberal,
but I'm open-minded enough to listen to the other sides. Yes, on occasion someone
"claiming" to be a conservative has an idea worth its weight in hot air. So I tend
to gleen and cull, preen and pull, the necessary info from these so-called conservatives
with a cautionary teaspoon.
To mildly interject, kgb, where is this headed? It's headed away from the frustration
of living in a state that elects a fucking second-rate immigrant actor as its governor.
It's heading away from typical politician wordhazing. It's headed away from halftruths,
slight-of-hands, Mr. Condits, and fat-headed costly government spending. The sun will
rise one day and all will be the truth. KGB, you're slipping into a nonsensical rant.
Thanks, man you're always there.
Back to the post as intended. Uberland. It's been proposed in the not so distant past
to carve up California in half and even into thirds, to save it. For the most part, us
up here in the north end of the state are all for it. There are many reasons..all quite
obvious if given a little thought.
No power crisis(a fucking sham if ever there was one)is point number one for the big
carve. We simply cannot have this in our Ubertopia. My slightly anger-fueled idea would be
to make this upper third of the state a great place to live. Not perfect, but as near to
it as possible. Our official language would be english. Only because we'd be too lazy
to learn a new one and theres' nothing more American than that, but hey, nothings perfect
remember?
We could borrow ideas from other states. For starters, we'll take Oregon's no sales tax
idea and implement that immediately. Our policies would protect our own citizens first.
Immigration would be regulated. If you want in, someone must want out. We would have a
governing council similar to the one at Elrond. Sorry, that was my sister's idea, she's
a hobbit freak. Our prisoners would be put to work...yup, the old chain-gang idea.
Capital punishment? Of course, with actual speedy trials, I'm talking one month tops.
Then it's off to the gallows, chain gang, banishment from the land, or if proven innocent,
all rights restored...go home and take a nap.
We would have none of this vehicle registration, year after year shenanigans. When you
buy your car, the registration is paid in full until your car has driven it's last kilometer.
Just kidding, it will still be miles, fuck the rest of the world and their metric system.
We'd have nice roads too...remember them chaing-gangs? No property tax. WTF is this anyway?
Why should you pay a tax on something that you already own? You buy land, it's yours and it
stays in your family until your bloodlines run dry.
Freedom of religion of course. Except pushing religion on someone will be considered a crime.
Chain-gang for you. If someone is interested in your religious affairs, doctrine if you will,
then they come to you and not vice-versa. That's right, this means you Jehovah's Witnesses.
Knock on your own fucking doors.
Now you may wonder how this new land can afford to run itself? We stick with capitalism.
We sell our power to So.Cal. We sell our water to So.Cal. They can keep their fucking air
pollution. We'll have big beatiful rivers full of fish, lakes with babes on boats, forests
teeming with wildlife, deer and such, etc.
Okay this post is altogether too long but I'm just getting started. There are plenty of
issues that I haven't even brought out into the light but I know deep in my apparently
sometimes giving a fuck heart of mine, that Uberfolk are indeed intelligent ilk. We see
the direction this city, this state, this country, this world is headed. We will not stand
by quietly and let these redfaced money-grubbers rob us of our identities, our cultures,
our right to protest naked! We will not go quietly into the night with our opium induced
heads hung in defeat! We would rather die on our feet than live on our knees(sexual inuendo
surprisingly not intended)!
Responses, ideas, visions for the future come forth! I myself am ranking this as a zero
because it's so fucking long and disjointed and not too well thought out, etc. you get the
point. On an unrelated side note, I just bought the G'Deads "Winterland" on DVD. It
fucking rocks. Oh, and I think I meant folk, and not ilk.

Rough deal living in California. You guys get alot of nut cases, art majors, commies, and non-english speaking people (you know who you are! -- but probably can't read this, so it is moot.)
If you are so worried about taxes, and big government, why aren't you more conservative/Republican minded? The way that Republicans run the economy (in theory, I'm not an expert, nor am I offilated with any party), is that they try to reduce social programs, and big Government in order to bring tax relief. They cut taxes for the wealthy to make a "trickle effect" which is supposed to promote the Capitalism you enjoy.
I'm more of an open minded person, with Conservative economic tendencies... but you always end up voting for the lesser of two evils.
Sounds like a good place to live.

No, the bay is on our southern border. We will wait for the big one when the earth
will shake enough that we'll have sonoma as a beautiful beach area. The bay will
be no more. Back down it will go to the bowels of the sea whence it came from.

It's been done. Well, not really. But it's been discussed to a small degree here- http://www.ubersite.com/m/18776
