You can learn a lot about yourself when you spend 95 percent of your time thinking of where you'd rather be and what you'd rather be doing than where you are and what your doing right now.
They say the grass is always greener on the other side. I think the side I'm on right now only has sand, not grass. Any grass would be greener than this side. This side is almost 100 percent bad. I miss my wife more than I ever thought it possible to sanely handle. I miss the little things. Driving to the store at 3am to buy a pack of smokes. Waking up and making coffee before my wife wakes up. Watching a football game with friends and drinking beer until I forget about the game. Little stuff. The year I was in Korea was this way too. Only in Korea, I had alcohol to numb the bad feelings, and had the freedom to go do things to keep my mind off of them. This place is like being in prison. Nothing to keep you company but your thoughts, your buddies, and your overwhelming desire to go home. I am tired of politics, I am tired of CNN, I am tired of arguing over anything, I am tired of gunfire, I am tired of fighting, I am tired of being tired. I want to leave this place and go home. Sometimes you gotta keep going for your family, because sometimes your family is all that keeps you going. I'm scared to think what I'd do without them.
Do me a favor and tell your significant other how you feel/hug your kids, or call your parents. You never know when you'll wish you had. Seriously.

You just made me feel ten times better about being in Korea. You are right though, the alcohol numbs the pain. Don't know what I'd do without it. Take care and come home safe!
