if you are hooked-up into the world enough to be reading this post, then you are aware that saddam hussein, a.k.a "the bogeyman", was recently captured he'd been captured dirty, ragged, looking for all the world like some street bum. an incident that made me think that maybe saddam wasnt the evil mastermind he'd been made out to be. surely an evil genius with billions of dollars at his disposal could have come up with a more dastarly cunning place to hide than the filthy cellar of soame place in his home town? like the joke that was going around before he captured says:
whos the wealtiest big-titted blonde in switzerland? saddam hussein.
then i watched the x-files for a few hours and my outlook changed (no, this doesnt involve space aliens, but now that you mention it...). saddamn was going to be captured no matter WHERE he hid, no matter who he bought off, no matter what surgery he got. he was going to be captured because he was SUPPOSED to be captured. saddams escape and subsequent capture was merely a political tool. they let him dangle long enough, and then they reeled him in. which brings me to the personage in the title: osama bin laden.
osama will never be captured. simple as that. this is not due to some genius he may posess, or to the ineptitude of the people looking for him. in fact neither of these two factors play any role whatsoever in the continued absence of osama from maximum security prison. bin laden will never be captured because our governments do not want him to be captured. simple as that. scapegoats are a wonderful thing, and not to be wasted lightly. this situation is a terrifyingly similar echo of events depicted in george orwells seminal novel "1984". for those of you who havent read this terrific book, first of all, i HIGLY recommend you do, the man was decades ahead fo his time. secondly the similarity between this book and these events is this: in the novel the protagonist lives in a nation that is terminally at war. the totalitarian society that winston (the protagonist) lives in has a regular activity called the 'two minutes hate' this is an event where people are rounded up and driven to a frenzy of hatred toward perceived enemies to intensify their love for 'the party' (the regieme that maintains control). the most common object of this hatred is a man called 'goldstein' - a mysterious figure whom no-one has seen outside of pictures and is blamed for many acts of terrorism.
sound familiar?
sure we are not exactly led into a cinema to yell and scream and drive ourselves into an extatic frenzy of hatred, but there is a lot of hatred toward osama bin laden out there. rightly so, but one has to step back and wonder about it all. its a common idea that governments are inept and just crap, and largely this is a correct assumption, but when you really think about it, an entity as large and powerful as the US governemt is going to have some capable intelligent people working for it. do you really think an entity as large and powerful as the us govt, with all its resources wouldnt be able to locate someone if it really wanted to, one way or the other?
i dont.
so be prepared to hear reports about some tape or another of osama bragging about some explosion in kuwait or an assassination in indonesia. be prepared to hear the oths of politicians to bring this dastardly fiend to swift and final justice, once and for all. dont be surprised to hear of troops moving into afghanistan or whatever shithole they decide to have a quick, quiet war in, under the pretense of finding the 'last' hiding place of osama bin laden, our goldstein for the 21st century.

I've always thought that Clear Channels war I mean "rally for America" festivals were very similar to the hate rallies in 1984.

Interesting take on it. Not that I disagree with your idea that our government is using the Osama figure for its own purposes, but to state that the US with its vast resources could catch any one they want, including Osama if they so desired is naive. As much as we like to think of our government and especially its military and intelligence branches as all-powerful and omniscient, they aren't. They are made up of people who have faults and can be inept at times. We make mistakes, blunder about, misinterpret information, draw incorrect conclusions. We only hope that we our mistakes are infrequent enough to keep is slightly ahead of the competition.

Double Plus Good!
Although I think we'll capture (or kill) him, because there's always another scapegoat to be found. Qaddafi knows this, hence he's decided to be a good boy. And let's not forget Kim Jong-Il, the Asian Don King.

There is no reason to give this post a negative rating. Even if it were obscenely absurd, at least the man is thinking.

Well in my mind, they were "doable" for one simple reason: all 10 reasons you love your shotgun could involve abuse towards pigeons/ pigeon sympathisers.
So please, all I ask is you write a post concerning pigeons. I give you only the subject.

ok, i can do requests, but thats a 'linked' post that has two incongruous clauses and as such is impossible to write. give me something doable and it will be done. i like doing requests.
as for the media - journalists are as bad as lawyers as far as im concerned. i dont watch tv, and i read newspapers for the sport section and for calvin and hobbes. i dont believe anything i didnt make up.

This certainly could be the case considering how much control the government has over the press. Ultimately, the whole thing comes down to the question:
Do you trust the people who are in control of the information you receive?
My answer, no matter who those people are, is "No". I want my information from as many independents sources as possible so that I can make a judgement decision for myself as to what is true and what is not. However, with the US military-industrial complex and media stranglehold by those who stand to benefit greatly from lies, I find it very difficult to believe anything I hear.
