Alright, the first thing anyone is going to do is assume that I'm a racist piece of trash, at least read the article before deciding that.
Have you ever heard someone say around christmas time "oh no, we can't put those decorations up, it would offend *insert cultural division here*"? What does this do? Does it really make the people who are not christian/ don't celebrate christmas feel like they belong? Like they're somehow more accepted when others are forced to so "sensitivity" towards them? No, why would it, if anything it enforces the idea that they are different and should be looked upon and spoken to differently for fear of offending them.
Take the example of native or aboriginal people in Canada, with a status card (which you can get if you're one quarter native, if one of your grandparents is native) they can receive half price tuition to universities, tax breaks on "reserves" and tax breaks on purchases among other things. Does this somehow make up for the injustices that have been done to them in the past? No. Does it make the more integral parts of society, do other people feel a brotherhood towards them because of these special priviledges? Shit no. This singling out through kindness is the worst kind of segregation that the government can apply. It cultivates jealousy and envy in others and singles the target group out. Look what happened to Pyle from "Full Metal Jacket". The things that the drill seargent did to him were not cruel on face value but the rest of the platoon was united against him, even the one guy he counted as a friend.
The only way a cultural/racial group can truly feel accepted is if they are treated exactly the same as everyone else.
Another thing is the attempt of the government to keep a "cultural identity" alive in each person. Everyone is "African-American" or "French-Canadian" why can't you just be one people, American, Canadian, whatever not some sub group but an actual part of your country. Keep your cultures alive people, for your sake and your childrens' but don't say that you're "race/culture" when you've become a citizen of another country, and don't cultivate that feeling in your kids because with it there they will never truly belong.
Make the world a better place, ignore the differences and realize that they really doent matter at all.

You could have fleshed out some more examples but I agree for the most part.
One of my pet peeves is Affirmative Action. It reverse discrimination for those in the majority. Those recieving scholarships or admission preference did not earn them based on merit. This is not equal treatment under the law.
Saying all that, I'm not against scholarships (from anyone other than the government) that give preferences to minorities. Just keep the reverse discrimination out of government programs and policies.

+2 for topic and starting conversation.

This is in error. The number one indicator of economic status is education levels. By taking a disadvantaged minority and giving them opportunities for education, the economic status of the minority will improve as an aggregate. This makes perfect sense, especially when you consider the fact that their economic status is largely caused by past injustice.

NO REAPER, Joker beat him with a bar of soap inside a sock remember? Fuck... the point of the story is that the methods the drill instructor used were strong enough to get even Joker to turn on the guy.

No. You fucking faggot. I own this movie. I love this movie.
And Joker does not turn on Pyle. He sat in the middle ground, that's why Pyle didn't shoot him in the 'head' when he shot Gunny Hartman.
And for anyone who hasn't seen this movie, 'head' is marine lingo for bathroom.

Amen. I think exactly this way, but I have somewhat of an uneven temperment and say things I don't mean when arguing the point. Thanks.
