Hi kids! My name is...not important. What is important is what im going to teach you today.
Before you cast this submission off as another angry rant at the fabric of the christian religion or religion in general realise that is not my intent at all. My intent has nothing to do with bashing religion at all i simply seek to inform or to put it in a less contrite manor: BASH INFORMATION INTO YOUR SKULL UNTIL YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO PONDER THE VERY EXISTENCE OF YOUR BELIEF SYSTEM. Sorry about the caps but it was necessary.
Let us begin with my favorite subject Satanism.
When you think of satanism what do you think? thats right a bunch of know nothing teens worshipping the dark lord and drinking dogs blood. Although some idiots do this it is not the basis of satanism so please dont judge a system by its misguided by heavy metal followers. Satanists down worship satan... well they do but they dont believe in him anyway.
Satanism's technical term is humanistic non secular hedonism. I know big words, but don't get discouraged! What that essentially boils down to is they try their hardest to piss off all sects of catholocism and what pisses off catholics more than satan and orgies? I mean being a satanist doesn't sound so bad anymore does it? Well tahts the basics of that! What, you want to know more? Well go down to your local library sometimes you might get lucky and find teh satanic bible otherwise Goth stores are your best friend.
OK next up THE CATHOLICS! oOoOoO.
I bet a lot of people dont like these guys. OK i agree in general the catholic church and teh christian church and the baptist church and all teh other churches who like jesus are headed by ignorant morons. that doesnt mean that every single person who believes in god and jesus is one too. The authorites of the churches all say blah blah blah.... abomination blah blah blah.... gays are bad blah. .blah. well sure it says that in the bible. Big Freakin Deal! I mean all this crap is in teh old testament which was written thousands of years ago by JEWS thats right tehy werent even catholic ( not that i have anything against jews but we all know catholics hate jews.) anway back to the people. In general the people who are a part of these groups are kind loving intelligent people so stop bashing them im sure tehy would like to go out to dinner with you and talk your issues over with a nice coffee( well exept teh mormons and JW's but thats a different post).
To end I think I'll talk to you about buddhism. Don't worry this will be short only 2 or 3 points. or 4, whatever.
1. Buddhism is not a religion its a philosophy.
2. There is more than one Buddha to be a buddha all you have to do is reach enligtenment. The little fat guy is Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of the philosophy and im not sure why hes so fat either.
3. buddhism isnt Chinese its Indian. Gautama was an indian prince. Buddhism didnt reach china in a mainstream way until around 500 ad.
4. There is more than one school of Buddhism not just Zen. Not all schools believe that to reach enlightenment you have to reach a state of perfect nothingness.
My purpose was to inform. I hope I did. So please next time you're going to bash a religion please understand it first. Oh and please if you have the time, read the Bible its full of nifty stories about monsteres and prostitutes and monsterous angels with many faces and flaming swords.
and No im not a Christian i just like religion.

Don't know if I trust the validity, I remember Satanism as being the "Celebration and worship of one's self" and not to "Piss of the catholic church with orgies and satan"
Could be wrong, read it a long time ago.

Since everyone's already dogged on this guy so much, I think I'll leave him alone. I think the -2 expresses what I think about all this informing.

The difference being that this one had no point?
Way to vastly over simplify a complicated issue.

n.
1.
a. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
b. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
2. The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
3. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
4. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.
Using this criteria just about anything like oh say NFL football could be considered a religion.

"My purpose was to inform. I hope I did."
Ok, so you lightly touched on Satanism, wrote outdated dogma about Catholocism, and pulled out some random statements about Buddhism.
How about the rest of them? How about establishing and explaining current, core beliefs of some other major belief systems (and filling in even the bare-bones of the ones you mentioned)? Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Sihkism, Christian Science, etc.
I can't say it was particularly informative regarding the subject matter. It did more to inform about the poster than anything else.
"So please next time you're going to bash a religion please understand it first."
And, as a corollary, "Please, next time you are going to discuss a religion, understand it first."
I appreciate your appreciation of religion. It is a fertile philosophical ground, and there's much to be learned in studying it. However, I think much more in-depth research is in order for a post like this to be done correctly.
Stay orange.

Wow.
Thanks to your pointless diatribe about the dangers of Catholicism and a series of well known points that you got from "The Childrens Buddhism Factbook", my beliefs have truly been shaken.
Tool.

I hate to admit it, but squattail is right. You know what? Youre not such a bad guy when you actually read a post and rate it accordingly.
skatastrophy, I dont NECESSARILY think that we are arguing. TECHNICALLY you could call it talking with the aid of a keyboard. Would you rather us talk about extreme cases of hypnogrataphiria? Because I dont think that would be NECESSARY. TECHNICALLY, I believe that would be rather UNNECESSARY.
technically

Anyway, it doesn't matter that Rome was occupying the land. Palestine has been occupied constantly throughout history. Romans, Turks, British. Talking about fucking geography, not politics.

Also I would like to add that I was wrong when I said:
"...zen isnt necessarily perfect nothingness. Its more of a awakening to total mindfullness."
Zen is a practice. Not a result. From what I have read, zazen (shikantaza) is the art of objectless meditation. And through zazen you can achieve mindfullness. Theres a pretty comprehensive book on it called The Art of Just Sitting, by Zen Master John Daido Loori. I think its pretty good, plus it is writen by a MASTER of not doing shit.

[3. buddhism isnt Chinese its Indian. Gautama was an indian prince. Buddhism didnt reach china in a mainstream way until around 500 ad.
If you are thinking that Buddhism is Indian because that is where Gautama was born, thats one thing, but Buddhism is everywhere. Thats like saying that Christianity is Israeli.]
I don't think so. China and India were both nations from which these people come from, back then and now. There was no Israel when Jesus was born.
Ok, well thats like saying Christianaty is (people of Jerusalem). What the hell do you call those people? Bethlehemaians?

thank you very much for your insight seanfogy. youre right i generalized far too much but i didnt want areally long post that no one would bother to read through. the pont of the post was simply to inform people that they should know at least some base knowledge when they choose to comment on religion.

Since I know nothing about "humanistic non secular hedonism", and care not about Catholicism...
1. Buddhism is not a religion its a philosophy.
Just because Buddhism has no god, doesnt mean that it isnt a religion. If you want to get picky about the definition of religion, it could be best defined as a set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader. But it can be referred to as both a religion and a philosophy.
2. There is more than one Buddha to be a buddha all you have to do is reach enligtenment. The little fat guy is Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of the philosophy and im not sure why hes so fat either.
The "fat buddha" is not Siddhartha Gautama. The "fat one" is what many believe to be the next Buddha or Maitreya. Also many believe that you can not just become a buddha. Were all buddhas from birth, it just takes practice to become enlightened.
3. buddhism isnt Chinese its Indian. Gautama was an indian prince. Buddhism didnt reach china in a mainstream way until around 500 ad.
If you are thinking that Buddhism is Indian because that is where Gautama was born, thats one thing, but Buddhism is everywhere. Thats like saying that Christianity is Israeli.
4. There is more than one school of Buddhism not just Zen. Not all schools believe that to reach enlightenment you have to reach a state of perfect nothingness.
The only thing I have to say about this is that zen isnt necessarily perfect nothingness. Its more of a awakening to total mindfullness.
I dont think you should have done this post with the lack of knowledge. Buddhism is more complicated than you will ever know. Ive been interested in it for quite a few years, have done my share of reading (books) and still have little knowledge on what it is truly. Although I will give you a +1 due to the fact that you may have spent an hour or so browsing the internet on these religions before you hit submit.

Thanks for your input. Shithead. Now read mine:
Catholics don't hate Jews. They no longer officially hate any religion. This was declared in Vatican II. It is called ecuminism. It states that you cannot judge a person by their beliefs, just as they should not judge Catholics.
The pope himself has also declared that there is no Satan as an entity, only as out actions. He has also said that there is no hell, the only hell you will experience is guilt and regret of the actions you made during your life, while in the afterlife, for eternity. Personally I think any eternity would be hell, no matter how well stacked the liquor cabinet is.
Also, you are so uneducated you cannot draw any conclusions or opinions simply because you have all the facts wrong and incomplete. Your spelling is the shittest I have ever seen. And this looks like a flame post.
