A couple/few weeks back, a little boy that resides in the Acadiana region made national news because he went to school and said his mother is gay. The boy is being raised by his mother and her female companion. The boy is only 7 years old. To be reprimanded by a public school teacher at the age of seven over his mother's sexuality was just ridiculous.

I have no problem people being gay, bi, or just plain heterosexual. I live in America. This is where people fled to have political and personal freedom. Who am I to pass judgment? Because of the worldwide attention gained from this story, haters and bigots are coming out of the woodwork. I thought maybe this story would have its fifteen minutes of fame, and the shame of my region would die. Unfortunately that didn't happen.
I was sitting up late last night watching the 10:00 news. They recapped the initial story regarding the boy with his lesbian mothers and then released the newest edition to the story. One church, Westboro Baptist Church, is completely opposed to same sex relationships, so they decided to begin a protest. The pastor with First Baptist Church, another local church group, released a statement stating everyone is loved by God, gay or not. The pasdtor was just outraged, and decided he had to take a stance against hate. Because Westboro believes God hates "fags", Westboro Bastist began to picket another church!
I sat and watched the news story in horror. The protestors held signs saying "God Hates Fags", "Thank God for Sept. 11", and "God took down the shuttle." These people even had small children walking around with signs of hate. My mouth dropped and I just gasped at the hatred. They were chanting, "I'm ashamed to be an American where the fags can freely roam." My only response to this is, "I'm ashamed to be an Acadian, where the bigots and haters moan." Worse of all, they don't plan to stop protesting at another church. This morning they planned on pickiting the elementary school where the boy attends school, and move their protest to the Lafayette Parish School Board. How can these people spread hate, teach hate, and display hate so freely? Streetpunk gets arrested for simple possession (which is truly nothing), and we can't do anything to these people. Where is the justice?

If you come back to this post again, are all Westboro Baptists so full of hate? When I do attened church, I attend First Baptist Church. Not the same one being picketed, but part of the same organization all the same. My church has never preached hate content like this. Until now I could never understand why people would say that Baptist church groups preach fire and brimstone sermons. Another prime example of how just a few individuals can give everyone a bad name.

Yeah, those Westboro fuckers came to my school because in Virgina some schools give out the morning after pills at the on campus clinics. It was disturbing to say the least.
Its interesting to me how a church that claims to love God can be so full of hate. If you don't go to hell for that, what do you go to hell for.

Maybe I'm being slow, but I don't get the Thank God For September 11th deal. I DO, however, have a feeling that it would make me angry, so I guess it's for the best that I don't know...

I think the September 11th thing is because they hate stupid liberal yankees who love those fucking butt-loving fags who have devil-horns and try to rape little boys. Also they may have had that sign because it killed so many Jews who are fucking infidels and don't deserve to live. They also need to be sent to hell, which God will certainly be doing. Luckily for them, though, the dirty, disgusting muslims who believed in that lying bastard Muhammend who was obviously lying because he said he spoke to God. What kind of assholes would believe that crock of shit! Fucking muslims.
Mind you, this argument goes most ways across many religions.

I heard something else that said that the school district was not punishing him for using the word "gay", he was doing something else at the time and that was what he was punished for. Of course by the time he got home and said that he had gotten in trouble for using the word gay, things escalated and there is no turning back now. Who knows what the truth there is really, but it sounds pretty far fetched.

Whose up for getting a collection going to pay for some New Yorkers, who lost friends and relative in 9/11, to fly down there? Put that meeting on cable TV and im sure you could make the money back.
