this is gonna be a completely crap post, cos i'm tired and bored but oh well, it's just a warning beforehand.
who here uses the word "gay" as an insult and why?
i'm just really confused why people keep using gay as an insult, i thought before that this insult was confined within school walls, but reading through some of the replies in this post, i have noticed that the more ignorant users of this site still use gay as an insult and i just wanna know why it's supposed to be insulting.
Any responses to this post are welcome, so long as they don't use gay as an insult to anyone, it's pissing me off.

The only reason I use the word gay is because it's the easiest insult to say. Instead of "you're an ignorant person" or "that's so stupid" you say "you're gay" or "That's gay". And as far as I know, it doesn't mean homosexual in that term, as much as just 'stupid'. If someone is really referring to something as homosexual, 1.)it would not make sense and 2.) they would say another slang word such as "Dude, he's a fudgepacker".

Why not? I used "gay" as an insult, because everyone else in elementary/middle school did...Eventually I realised I was being immature, and stoppped. Ive never heard anyone use "gay" as an insult who was out of highschool.
"Gay" is perhaps the shittiest insult there ever was...Except for "dunderhead".

I'm not a fan of people calling each other gay or retarded unless they are, in fact, one of the two.
