I need time to think about what has happened. I don't know what I feel anymore, love I no longer know if it is. You make me feel great, you make me happy, but.
The word BUT the most cursed and hated single word any man could hear when pursing such a relationship. This was what she was saying now, there's something more she wants, something more she needs.
"What can I do?"
"Nothing. I don't know. I don't know how I feel about you anymore."
"Did I do something wrong?"
"No."
"I don't understand."
"I just need some time."
"Time?"
"Yes, I just to think about things."
"I don't want to lose time."
"I know, but I need to think."
In his last effort to keep things the same he reaches out for her hand, as she stands up and walks out the room. The whirlwind of turmoil begins its curse in the mind of the destroyed man. What now, how can he just wait, how can he let her just walk out the door. His head collapsing into the fragile support of his hands, the tears begin to hit the floor. Slowly he realizes the end has come and there's nothing he can do anymore. Sitting and withering away just like the petals of the rose he gave to her on her birthday. Things change, yes he knows that, but not all change is for the better.
His eyes gleam with a new tint. He must decide now, things will not be the same after today. He must fight or surrender; there is no other way. The battle looms before him, the outcome uncertain, but he must choose. Walk away now and forget all that has been or dive onto the outstretched blade and hope the best comes.
He wipes the mist from his eyes as he runs down the hall. Heart pounding, lump in his throat, his words have not been thought out, still he continues. She jumps in shock at the touch of his hand on her shoulder.
"What are you doin..."
"I just wanted to say I've enjoyed every moment we've had together. I can't explain all the things you have done for me or how great I feel when I'm with you. I just hope our future is as great as our past."
"That's sweet. But....."
