So I was dildoing around online, and somehow I got here. Might have been a ZFilter link, maybe something else, I don't remeber. I looked the site over, I read the "About Us" section ( which was stunningly dead on. This really IS better than my website... ), and I thought to myself, "Wow, thats a clever idea. An open community based on the idea of free speech and self expression, whatever direction that might take. Think I'll sign up."
And sign up I did. I write stuff sometimes, and like any human being, I wouldn't mind feedback on said stuff. Thus far, the community has been basically nice to me. I haven't been flamed. I've been critisized, but in just the manner I was looking to be critisized. And so I went about looking at other peoples stuff.
Now, I'll admit, some things are worth getting pissed off about, and ranting about. Like the bigots. For example, the guy who equated MLK2 with Hitler

It's a human being relating amusing experiences in there life. She bares her most embarrassing moments to a community. And some of you dipshits apparently saw fit to flame her for it. To call her an idiot. And so on. Which brings me to my point.
I fear the vast new desert that will inevitably be created when all the sand is shaken loose of your collective vaginas.
Obviously, I'm not directing that at everyone. You know who you are.
I just can't seem to wrap my mind around it. I've been reading through this site for several hours now. And every time I see someone putting forth an innocuous, harmless, wholly non inflammatory opinion, there are a dozen asshats waiting in the wings to spew fourth all manner of derision, to openly pine for the authors death, because they left out a fucking comma.
I mean, Jesus Tap Dancing Christ. If you're looking for the perfect technical nuances of Shakespere or the harmonic prose of Robert Frost, a user submission based message board system probably isn't your best fucking bet, ladies and gentlemen!
So what the hell is the problem here? Where the fuck does this festering avalanche of hostility come from?
If you think something is boring, you don't have to read it! Give it a -2 and move the fuck along. Maybe provide some HELPFUL critique to aid in making us all better writers! But adding "gawd ur such a fking idiot i hop you die in a firy car reck and i hope the paramidics pee in your hair after u hav died and thn poo in ur mouth and then burn dun ur house and because ur a lamr newb and all the tings i hav wrot r bttr thn u' just makes you look like a chode. A stupid, witless chode who can't stand to see someone else having a go at it.
Is it a cycle of abuse thing? Are all these hostile little bundles of teen angst simply users that got flamed too much when they tried to express an opinion? Do we all just need to take a deep breath and hug one another?
Okie dokie. I think that about sums up my rant.
Oh, on a side note. Who gives a fuck if someone is a 4000+ user? Having registered at this site before other people did does not make you a better, more intellegent, capable human being. It just means you registered at this site earlier. This isn't the Masons, folks. This isn't even the fucking Rotary Club. It's a goddamned user submission based message board site. Senority here is about as indicitive of one's capabilies as a human being as being Employee of the Month as McDonalds. It just means you haven't found anything better to do.
Other than that, I like this place.

I know you are referring to my comment of "You are an idiot" in response to that post.
There is a simple explanation. I was not being mean, I just wasn't charmed by her seemingly innocent and pure, but in actuality, moronic ramblings.
I don't feel the need to encourage those who lack the talent in the first place. Go ahead, read it again. This time, do it with fantasizing that she is some soft, pretty romantic who just happens to be down on her luck with the gentlemen... if only there was someone to understand her.

I, for one, dont think I've ever been told to impale myself on a rusty javelin, but I dont write like a twelve year old with a brain disease. People just get tired of the shit on this site as of late (if you havnt noticed), and I'm sure each little stupid trivial post that is whipped up in four minutes just adds to it.
If someone wants some true, unbias, constructive criticism, in all seriousness, this is not the place anymore. Thats part of the reason I dont do the kind of posting here that I used to. If someone really wants their writing to be criticized they should join a writers circle, or take a class and have the professor take a whack out of it.
Telling people to get bent and blow their brains out used to be fun, before every 2 out of 3 posters were worthy of ritual suicide. Now its just habit.
