It is not the article you're supposed to read, but rather, the author's evident disgust at the topic. You've pointed out that it's a shitty thing to be doing, writing that article, and this he is aware of. Which is why (I think) he wrote with such obvious sarcasm. Thus the statement I am trying to make is that I enjoy CNN because the writers have a sense of humor in hating their job.
