Uberia: Chapter VIII Rise of the Triad
"You're absolutely crazy" said Razor. "I can't even believe that you think it would work"
"It would work" argued Lisa, "We can do this"
Razor paced back and forth, his comrades stood in confusion as to whether or not the plan would actually work. Lord Bart's eyes were still fixated on the Machine. Jonukah stepped out of the crowd, watching the ground "So you want us to sneak into the machine, bypassing all of Microsof's guards, and destroy the SPAM filter?" Jonukah started to laugh, "You....You think that the five of us can stand up to Microsof, the largest Kingdom in Cyber"
"It could work", said Lisa, this time with a little doubt in her voice.
"It will work", said Lord Bart, "But we will need some help"
He raised his hands up into the air, and called two posts. The King cycled the pure white posts as if juggling them in the palm of his hand. "And I know just where we can find help"
"Uber help us, Lisa has lost her mind and infected our King's mind as well" Said Razor, "But if it's a fight my Liege wants, then I'm in"
"Microsof is not the enemy, Hotmail is but an arm of Microsof, and we are going to cut off that arm, for the sake of Uberia, and for the sake of Cyber itself" Lord Bart lowered himself to the ground and sat indian-style, setting himself in yet another trance.
Razor and Jonukah joined their King by calling the post, drawing a large source of power from the palms of their hands.
"Then let's do this"
Loki led her team through the valley, they were definitely close to help; she could feel it. As they marched over a small slope, they could make out three figures, two were sitting, one was pacing. "Come on people, we are almost there" barked Loki. With all that she has been through, Loki had surprised herself that she hasn't collapsed yet. Her arm was still tender from the healing wound that John Worley had given her. As they drew closer to the figures, she began to recognize their faces. "It's Hidden and Lisacat, and they've brought LaNa, thank Uber!" Said Loki. Her mind took over, the pain became second to reaching their friends as she picked up the pace, causing her comrades to follow her lead and start running as well. "Almost there" she thought to herself, as she began to envision LaNa's healing touch taking her pains away. As she closed the gap, her eyes were fixated on Lisacat, who has now snapped out of her meditation. Loki threw her hand over her head to waive. "It's us, we made it" The look that Loki wanted from her friends was a look of Joy, instead, their eyes were affixated over her head, and it was a look of fear.
Before Loki could even turn to look at what has caught their attention, a hair-raising high-pitched scream spread throughout the valley. She dropped to her knees in blinding pain, as her head pounded from the attack. She knew who it was, and her stomach rolled as she started to put the facts together that McBain had released them. It was Kristy Swan. The banshee of evil swept from behind and to the left of her, catching Loki's good arm with her claws, shredding her sleeve. Loki realized that she cut more than her clothes, she was bleeding but didn't have time to access her damages. She dropped on her stomach. She quickly scanned her comrades who were doing the same. Lisacat and Hidden were rushing to her aid. A *Trying to find a bag* post sparked out over Loki's head raging towards the Siren. The Siren dodged the post with little effort. Kristy came back towards them, opening her mouth to deliver absolute agony as the knights and adventurers lay there trying and failing to block out the sound. If she got too close with her howl, they would be dead. Fortunately she was only teasing them, keeping her distance by bringing just enough pain to briefly incapacitate them. Loki was gathering a post, but being as distracted as she was she could not focus enough to complete it. Mac rushed in with a *Lucky Charms are Unlucky* post but launched it too soon and misjudged the distance. They had little luck of making it out of this one alive. The Siren was once one of the most ruthless post-killers in Uberia, it seemed that she has become twice as powerful since her last visit.
"Loki we've got to run, get up" screamed Reallybored. Reallybored saw an opportunity as Kristy was turning around for another attack; he jumped to his feet and took off. He yelled to Ed Dee and Mac, "Come on guys, let's move" They both quickly rose to their feet and followed Reallybored as he headed towards Loki. The Siren was coming back, Reallybored knew this was the time she was going to finish the job, there was no escape. He didn't know what to do, if they stay, they will die, if they run, they will die. There is no way out of this. They couldn't concentrate long enough with Kristy's banshee calls to kill her either. Reallybored stayed focused on grabbing Loki but knew that within seconds Kristy would open her mouth again. All of his thoughts racing combined with his fatigue and fear seemed to float away. For a split second, everything slowed to a near halt. He could hear screams and muffled voices, but he could not understand them. His vision went bright white and his body started to tingle. "No", he said, as he spun around and held his hand out towards the Siren. A wall of fire shot from his fingertips and closed his party in a sphere of flames, just in time as Kristy tried to pull up but caught one of her wings in the raging inferno surrounding Reallybored and his friends. The siren cried out in pain as her wing was badly burned by the fire. Kristy pulled away from the dome of fire and began to flee. She flew off over the mountain range without taking a second glance. As Reallybored closed his fist, the fire was extinguished, and he collapsed.
"How did you do that, how did you call a firewall?" Loki demanded to know
"I really don't know, I sort of blacked out but I could see everything that was happening, I just wasn't...in control" As he spoke he tried to figure out what had happened.
"That was unbelievable" Said Ed Dee, "I couldn't believe it, the Siren was like Ahhhh and you were like Errrrrr and next thing you know you put...." Mac interrupted Ed, "That was a pretty cool thing man, you saved us"
"That cool thing should never have happened", said Loki, "Posters can't call firewalls", Loki could not believe it, she has never seen anything like what she just witnessed.
"Guys, I wish we had more time to celebrate, but it looks like Kristy's song and dance just got us noticed"
They looked over to notice that a large band of post-killers were moving towards them, with their weapons drawn.
"Dammit, I was so close" Loki thought to herself, as she realized that her upcoming healing had to be postponed.
Chills ran down McBain's spine as he came to the huge metal vault door covered in a thick layer of dust. He knew this was it; he knew he was in there. He was meticulously turning the five knobs in the center of the door to crack the combination, and to set him free. As the last knob clicked into place, he stood back, and let the door swing outward to display a room in pitch black. He held the tip of his middle finger to the tip of his thumb to create just enough light from his post to see. Carvings in an ancient text were written all over the wall, possibly a binding post to keep what was contained within these walls trapped. He moved his hand around to find him. When he spotted him, he began to shake in anticipation. "At last," he said, the final member of the Triad." On wooden crossbeams in the form of an "X" hung a perfectly preserved body attached by an iron spike through its forehead and its chest.
McBain closed his eyes and began to concentrate. His fingers began to work as if putting together a puzzle as a black form began to take shape in his hand. A white post signifies the purest of posts, the brighter the post, the better the post. Potency and power, however, can go in both directions. When a post is so evil, so undeniably bad, it takes a black form, a nebula of hate. It takes much effort to create either a pure white post, or a pure black post, but both are weapons of mass destruction in Cyber. In this case, a lifeline to that which is pure evil. He rested the hand that contained his black post over the heart of the shriveled up carcass. As the post began to flow into the chest and throughout the body of the corpse, it began to fill again with life. Fluids began to flow into the hands and feet, and then the legs and arms, and eventually the chest and head. The scaly arm reached over to grab the spike resting in its chest, slightly startling McBain, as the animate arm ripped it out. It tossed it to the floor and then grabbed hold of the spike in its head. Slowly moving it back and forth to work it free, it eventually pulled the long metal spike out.
Eyelids rose open, dark red eyes drove through McBain like a thousand rapiers. Seconds seemed like eternity as they watched each other in silence. Mcbain broke that silence.
"Welcome back to the world of the living Cole"
"How long have they kept me here, in death?" the dark figure asked
"It's been years, great one, but that doesn't matter, I freed you, and the rest of the Triad. Now you can exact your revenge on the one who put you here"
"Is he still alive then?" Asked the living corpse
"Yes, he still plagues our hopes of ultimately ruling Cyber, he must be stopped"
"Then I shall go to him, and devour his soul, consuming him and all the power of the post that he possesses"
"You were once the greatest of Post-Killers, if anyone can kill him, it would be you"
"I am still the greatest of Post-Killers, McBaine, and I swear by Uber, I will find and kill my arch-enemy, Maddox"
"I will take your statement in modesty Cole, because I respect you, but so long as you are living, continue to remember that it was I that brought you to back to life"
The blackened corpse looked up at McBain with his cold and calculating blood-red eyes, "As you wish...Lord McBain"

I just read all of them back to back. I can't believe I missed them when they were first up. You my dear are a fantabulous writer and normally I don't like Tolkien-esque stuff. I'm Hooked!!

I have to say that my favorite part of the stories has been all the Uber=God references. :)

Still going strong. I'm looking forward to more on this reallybored firewall thing. Although I really hope that it doesn't turn out to be some cheesey Matrix "you're the one" thing. Either way, great chapter. But who's Cole? (and I don't mean in the story, I mean in real life) Is he a past uber user or does he have a Maddox hate site or what? Just curious.
