As the year drags on, it feels like it is never going to end. I have several more weeks left before I get to return home. I left home on the 4th of April last year and have spent my time mulling my time away day in and day out looking for something interesting to do while dreading the horror around the next corner.
Today I lost another two friends. I don't even know how many people I've known who have died this year. I am having a particularily bad time today as we are just a couple of weeks before it is all over. A few more short weeks and these two would have been home with their wives and children. Now, their world is crushed. There will be no reunion.
I am sick.
I am tired.
I need a beer.
No so amused anymore.

I guess I said I need a beer because I am longing for a normal life. I want to get up at home. Go to work. Go home at night. Drink a beer. Eat what I want, even when the chow hall isn't opened. I don't want to brush my teeth with e. coli water anymore. I am tired and I want to go home.
You were right I didn't mean this to be a political post. I was tired and I guess I just wanted everyone to know what had happened.
Thanks for the reviews. I actually felt a little guilty because it would seem an obvious hit whore post. Thanks any way.

I actually went and grabbed a beer when I read this title.
An ice cold, cold, cold, beer.
It was so cold, that when I took it out of the beer fridge, full of beer, and twisted the beer cap,it made the twisting cold beer cap noise -pssh- this wonderful greyish cold vapour coiled out. The first sip was like sweet, sweet heaven made liquid.
And then I read the post, and I felt rather bad for you, and yours, and your respective predicaments.

Ref, I never said that this was a political post. However, this soldier obviously wants nothing more than to come home, see his friends and family, and have a beer. There's one thing that stands in the way of him doing that: the US government. So go fuck yourself, ref.

Hey, I pray that you come home safely. A while back I was in agreement with Bush's decision to get more oil er, "bring Iraq to democracy." It's been almost a year since we declared war, and look at how many nuclear weapons we found. I've recently been reading a lot of literature by Michael Moore to find out the real truth behind the war (not that everything Mr. Moore says is true, but it's more believable than the bullshit propaganda Bush gave us). Today I joined a school club, Amnesty International, which is about humanitarianism and all that. In a couple of weeks I'm scheduled to join an anti-war protest (not that protesting helps much, but I just want to prove how against this war I am). Once again, I hope you and your friends come home safely, along with all of the other soldiers.

My Dad was a Calvary Scout (I think thats what they call it) in the army during Vietnam. He told me losing a friend is probably the worst thing he had to go through. I feel for ya man, get back in one piece.
