For years now, my family has been consulting with a *psychic* lady named Miss Betty. She's a very haggard looking woman probably in her 60's now. Many things she has said over the years have come true and many things have not. I recently visited her when I was first diagnosed with cancer because i thought she could tell me whether i would live or die.
My reading with her went as follows...
She told me i would be taking a trip to florida to visit an old lover. I nodded. She said I would be buying a new car within the next week. At the time I was merely researching buying another car because I had just bought one a year prior. She told me I would be moving out of state and advised me not to move in with any of my girlfriends who would need a roommate...that it would not be a good situation for me and i would not stay throughout the entire lease. I just nodded and said ok so we could move on to what i was waiting to hear.
She told me things like I would meet someone with dark eyes and we would travel all over the world. She told me I'd get a new job and of course money would not be an issue for me. Numerous times she has told me that i would be having twins (a boy and a girl). Twins do run in my family, as my father was one of six sets of twins, but who knows, right?!?
Finally, she told me that I would live to be in my 90's and I would live a very healthy life.
So my question here is made up of many levels. First, did i buy a car because she said i would??? At the time, I was just researching it. I have to say, I was pretty serious about getting a new one. But did I go for it because she laid it all out for me?
Secondly, am i moving out of state because she said i was going to move? This goes along with the first part of the question, really.
And lastly, should i really put energy into pondering what she is telling me? If she had told me I was going to die at the age of 23 do you think I would have believed her? What could I do differently to change the outcome? Maybe I will live to be 90-something. I truly don't know.
I am certain that some of the things she has said in the past have happened and I didn't recognize it at the time. Later, I looked back at my notes (because I record everything she says) and I say *wow, that's what Miss Betty said would happen.* I am certain that she knew i was going to florida to visit an ex lover and i already had my plane tickets at the time.
It's a funny business. My opinion on it is to take everything with a grain of salt because I think YOU control your destiny. You have the power to change it and make it what it's going to be....don't you? Or is some lady I barely know leading my life in some direction without me even knowing it.
I prefer the *grain of salt* idea.

I went to a palm reader last summer and the first thing she said was
"wow, you're really fucked up"
I'll remember that forever.

I never put much stock in the idea of Fate, until recently. But it's my opinion we can't run from our destinies, but we can run to them, and just like life it's not so much the destination that is important, but how we got there.

"She told me things like I would meet someone with dark eyes and we would travel all over the world."
That's me. 'Cause I have dark eyes and we always talk about travelling...yup. I'm convinced your psychic lady knew. Bwahahahahahahaha.
No, I'm not insane...why do you ask?

Aww.. well, that's very kind of you.
I really believe that you control your own path or destiny through strength of will. Long and short term. Its a part of our primal being that allows us to do this, and a direct link to the energy that surrounds us (my idea of God...). That's why, for example, prayer can be so effective at helping people get what they want for themselves... it is in effect a conscious effort of our will to cultivate the energy that will get us to the desired means. ..
Imagine swimming to a certain point in a river. The action of swimming is your will, the river is the energy, and your situation is your life as it is. The current has means to take you where it is going anyways, but you can certainly control your own path.
Just the result of my own experiences and beleifs.. take it as you will

She was too busy daymaring about her life with RB's twins.
It's not so bad, Michelle. I'm going to end up having a penguin-baby.
And I heard your cancer count was at 11! That's awesome!

Just because your destiny lays before you, does not mean you have had noting to make it what it is. Is it so far fetched to believe that this woman can see the path you have set for yourself?

I predict a positive overall ranking.
I predict you will read this and not give it
much thought.
I predict that you will live for another 8 years.
I predict everyone who's still alive will die in
2012, this includes me of course. Take care.

What if you end up with RB's twins?
Mattison (girl) and Matt Jr. (boy)?
God have mercy on you. Your daughter would be a slut and your son would be a pimp.

I think we're perfectly capable of throwing a wrench into destiny's grand plan.
