It is common knowledge that communism is extremely susceptible to corruption. In the event of a totalitarian regime, we see how it is the norm for the upper positions in the hierarchy to take full advantage of their obscene power, and exploit their society at their whim. We call this their "best interests". We watch how millions of innocent citizens were oppressed. We gazed on from our corner of the world while millions upon millions of people starved to death, or were executed in cold blood out of government paranoia and cruelty. We watched as incredible sums of money were embezzled from government funds and programs, straight into the bank accounts of the ruling stratum. We shrugged, because it is the "nature of the system". With such magnificent incentives to behave as horrible people, and no monetary reimbursement or other tangible reward to act as responsible leaders, how could the system work?
We call this human nature. The fundamental, irrevocable "flaw" of the communist system of government.
Not so prevalently known is the degree of corruption that capitalist societies (particularly that of the United States) have allowed to cement in their framework. In the age of corporate fraud, we watched as seemingly unstoppable, thoroughly respected and apparently immaculate organizations went completely bankrupt, while its CEO's and other top insiders walked away with many millions of dollars in their pockets. The United States of America is a very corporate country. The Bush administration is composed of such invisible, phantom CEO's, most notably, Dick Cheney and of course, the president, Mr. Bush himself. Both of these men were directly involved with corporate fraud in their recent past, and made large profits from insider trading and suspect business deals.
This is the highest, most respected rank possible in the entire country. He leads the world's only superpower.
We know how communism works, indeed. The "revolution and dialectical materialism was used as a smokescreen" (to quote Yidele) to justify acts beyond moral redemption.
But what took place in the last 4 years on our continent? September 11th, most notably. The war succession of wars in the Middle East (Iraq and Afghanistan), are a close second. In addition to this, we see a floundering economy.
The Bush administration capitalized on their shocked nation after September 11th, and set the stage for a military invasion in Afghanistan, and shortly thereafter, drew blatantly fraudulent connections between the Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein. It wasn't long before Iraq was invaded.
What was the true motivation?
It seems whimsical to ascribe to some ideological notion that this was a "war on terror". How is it even possible to declare a military conflict on an idea? Terrorism will always exist, in all of its forms. The war on terror, is the equivalent of the war on drugs, and the war on crime. Not only are all three magnificent failures in their own, but they are impossible to win by definition. Perhaps if terror were manifested explicitly in some middle eastern country, Bush could invade, and destroy it outright. But, this is an impossibility.
Instead, there was a profit to be made.
Lucrative contracts were awarded to Bush and Cheney's business connections, ranging from arms production, reconstruction contracts, to oil companies. Meanwhile, while the smokescreen was still very much active, Bush pushed through his tax cuts, which were targeted solely for the very rich.
So now, thousands and thousands of innocent Iraqi people lay dead as a direct result of this war. Men, Women, and Children.
"Collateral Damage!"
Hundreds of American soldiers died.
"True, patriotic heroes!"
Yes, the are heroes. Heroes in that they fought for, and died for their country, their president.
Dead heroes.
The Bush corporation....administration.... lied to these brave men and women. They are dead now, as a direct result of these actions. Meanwhile, not only Bush and Cheney, but hundreds of other affluent businessmen made obscene profits at the expense of the dead and deliberately misinformed. Domestic problems such as the economy were completely ignored, and by the looks of it, things are going to get unbelievably worse before they get any better.
Not to claim that the death of millions of people in the east as the result of communism is the equivalent of these wrong doings in the west, the result of the capitalist, democratic system, but the parallels are there. Both are potent illustrations of the overwhelming power of greed, corruption, and destructive capabilities of those in high powers of office. Is the democratic/capitalist system any better then the communist one?
Perhaps it was back when it was contained within the law, when it was the ideology of men of upstanding rank and stature. When it was established in the United States and upheld by the constitution.
But it appears as if this system is on the brink of collapse. Not only because of vanishing civil rights, fake wars, and exploited disasters, but because the western economy will only hold out for so long without its oil industry. And when the oil goes, billions of people will die, you can be assured of that.

Because you +2'd yourself TWICE.
You ass lemur"
Guess what, motherfucker? Have another one on the house. I will plus two this post as much as I goddamned well feel like it.
As for you, REF:
Your ignorance truly astounds me. That is not even meant to be an insult, it's just an objective fact. You are completely, and unequivocally ignorant. Your stance on this entire debacle is what worries me. It is an indication, that perhaps there are other people like you in America. Maybe the majority, the next time that election rolls around.
Scary, I know.
I like how you use the word, "Orwellian" in my direction, as if you were somehow insulting me. The United States _is_ in an Orwellian predicament, and it will only go downhill if the far right remains in control of your government. While Bush, may not be big brother (debatable), Ashcroft sure is.
"Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001"
Now, what in the fuck is more Orwellian then that? Especially considering the unconstitutional powers that this act grants the Justice department.
Now, I will dissect the facts that you base your severely out of touch opinions on.

"bush could have gone to congress and told him saddam made fun of him and that would have been enough reason."
_____________________________________________________________________________
Really? Then why did he rely on faked evidence suggesting that Saddam had nuclear weapons? Why did he draw connections between Saddam Hussein, and Al Qaeda, the ones responsible for 9/11? Why is it that Iraq had all but faded from the general American consciousness until Bush packaged Iraq as a direct nuclear, biological, or chemical threat to the land of the free?
Because the American people, while grossly misinformed, are decent people. Public opinion was not nearly enough to support the war until the people began to believe there was going to be a mushroom cloud hovering over New York city, instead of plane debris. The administration exploited the fears of a damaged nation to further its own ends, and its own ends are, in this case, incredible amounts of money. Not the disposing of some dictator in the Middle East, to "liberate the people of Iraq".
"Operation Iraqi Freedom"
Orwellian?
Obviously.
People like you buy into this shit as if it were Enron stock.

"Who cares if some rules were broken. Gore gave prisoners cigs to vote for him in 2000. Where's your bitching on that one?"
_____________________________________________________________________________
This was where I wasn't even sure if you were worth the time to try and even attempt to convince you that Bush isn't the homegrown, all American Texan, baby kissing good guy that you seem to perceive him has.
Do you know why?
Because you are comparing Gore giving prisoners cigarettes for the vote, to Bush repealing your civil rights, invading a country unjustly and in defiance of the majority of international opinion, making ludicrous profits off the entire deal, lying blatantly to the American public, stealing-the-fucking-elections-in-the-first-place, and airlifting the members of the bin laden family, (DIRECT FAMILY MEMBERS TO THE TERRORIST LEADER WHO KILLED THREE **THOUSAND*** PEOPLE ON SEPTEMBER 11TH) out of the country soon after the planes crashed down on New York.
You are comparing Clinton, who presided over the most prolific economic period of your countries history, ending in a record surplus, to Bush, who depleted your countries finances, threw you into recession, and handed you a record DE FI CIT.
What is wrong with you??? Don't knock the man for trying??? For trying what? To establish the most corrupt, disgusting, dishonest, greedy, exploitive religious administration your country has ever seen? Because if that's the case, I am going to knock him, because your president is a joke. And not a good one, either. Like about as funny as Duke yelling a racist joke in a black panthers meeting, in a crack house in Compton, on the anniversary of the Rodney king riot, while wearing a Klu Klux Klan robe, simultaneously spitting chewing tobacco and declaring himself the leader of the master race, you fucking NOB.
"The Bush Administration claims that the erosion of civil liberties post-9/11 is necessary to advance the "war on terrorism." However, Congress has not issued a declaration of war. The Administration has not defined an identifiable enemy, has not named an enemy-state, and has not given the American public a benchmark to determine when the "war" has ended. Under this rubric, the Administration's encroachments on civil liberties can be continued forever.
Some citizens argue, "If I'm not doing anything wrong, then I don't have anything to worry about." But, who decides what conduct is "wrong?" In anti-terror legislation and Executive Orders, the Administration has the capacity to decide what conduct is "wrong," without Congressional oversight, without public input, and without judicial review. Under this structure, Americans have no assurance that the exercise of free speech or political dissent will not become prohibited conduct."

If people like you allow your country to fall to fucking pieces, then maybe you deserve it. The only reason I will care after that point is for the welfare of the international community. The leader of the free world? Do you honestly think that buried somewhere in bush's pea brain is a genuine concern for his country? If so, then you are truly a fucking moron.
Thanks, for, coming, out ------>Bitch.

Oh god what's wrong with people. One word has made me sicker than sick as I listen to any political conversation. That word is bipartisanship. Or bipartisan or whatever. The reduction and splitting of TWO political parties that consistently oppose each other. Let's forget our R and D labels and just look at the facts.
These are the facts. Everything written in this post people should already know. And be angry about.
People who vote to the right, IMO, are backing Bush out of some absurd loyalty. For what it's worth, if I were a Republican I'd be saying the exact same thing! If Kerry ends up bending us over and jamming his yella hoohoo in America's ass (lubricated by middle eastern oil wakka wakka) you bet your ass I'm going to complain.
But there's no use in explaining this. K.M. : You wasted your time. People will believe what they WANT to believe... and only if it makes them RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT. People who voted for this shitbag will NEVER eat their words. THEY'VE GOT TO BE RIGHT!!! So it goes.
Good post nonetheless. You could have done without the picture, though.

sounds like "newspeak" to me.
its very orwellian of you to paint bush as big brother. paint him as a scapegoat for things that had to be done. whatever the reason, saddam had to go. bush could have gone to congress and told him saddam made fun of him and that would have been enough reason.
sure we do need a new direction in this country. i won't argue that. But to take on the man who did what no one else had the balls to do is preposterous. Who cares if some rules were broken. Gore gave prisoners cigs to vote for him in 2000. Where's your bitching on that one?
It looks more and more likely that there will be a kerry-edwards ticket. If that is so, bush will lose. But don't detract from what he has done. He has brought us away from clintons econmic busts. He had brought us through 9/11 and freed a people from a despotic leader.
Don't fault the man for trying.

This is some of the most convoluted mind numbing writing that I have seen in a long time. You should get a job speech writing for a congress man. You would make him sound terrifically intelligent while at the same time no-one would understand a word he said.
