Automobile accidents claim more innocent lives every year, yet the government has done little about it. Tougher laws, lower blood alcohol content levels and mandatory seatbelt laws are to no avail, people continue to die.
This supports the theory that society as a whole is not responsible enough to own automobiles. They need to be declared illegal for private use and operated only by the state and federal government, the military and government regulated mass transit systems. This will also drive fuel prices down and have a positive effect on the environment.
Take for instance, a repeat DUI offender who has taken the lives of innocent people due to his irresponsibility. Taking his drivers license away, fining him and sentencing him to prison does not address the issue that the weapon of choice is still available to him. He can get into a car anytime he chooses, as they are so readily available not just to him, but to convicted felons, mentally disturbed/suicidal people and children who are not capable of making sound decisions.
If they were banned, the problem would go away.
Sounds ludicrous, doesn't it?
Then you should understand how gun rights advocates feel.

Your uneducated diagnosis was not even close. I'm currently an aerospace engineer and I probably make more in a week than you do in two months. I'm also a veteran, and was righting for your right to say whatever you please before you were even toilet trained. I've probably forgotten more than you will ever hope to know.
Regulating firearms only affects the law abiding citizen. If I was a criminal, convicted felon, terrorist etc., I really wouldn't care about existing gun laws. I'll obtain the firearm of my choice to do with it as I see fit. Robbing liquor stores is against the law, too.... But it still happens.
Making certain types of firearms illegal only drives up their value on the black market, much like drugs and alcohol during prohibition. Criminal elements profit from it and taxpayers dollars are wasted trying to combat it.
The main point I'm trying to make is that we have to be held accountable for our actions. Regulation has never worked in the past and certainly won't work now.

This point of you argument is superfluous. Find the statistics on people deliberatly killing with an automobile and compare that with an assult rifle. Apples and oranges, no comparison. Although I don't think that banning weapons is the solution. I beleive the solutions lies in education and solid family foundations.

This is a pretty good comparison. People need to be less fearfull of guns and these bans on assult weapons is bullshit. most of the people who own a assult rifle just keep it because it looks cool or to shoot a few rounds at a Leagle target range the banning of magizines with 12+ bullets capacity is bullshit people just buy them anyway. I know this because i have 4 17+ clips for a 10mm glock

Except, aren't most gun control advocates for just that; "control"? I've never heard them claim they want a complete ban on private ownership of all guns, just certain types of guns, banned from certain types of prospective buyers. And I don't believe the alarmist assertion that it's a slippery slope, i.e. first they'll ban assault weapons and the next thing you know they'll go after every .22 squirrel shooter.

You have presented nice facts. There have been no responsible or intelligent arguments from anyone yet. There has not been even the slightest good job on personal attacks by anyone. If the people responding to your posting are that stupid, they shouldn't own guns in the first place. It takes intelligence to effectively operate, clean, and care for a firearm.

Take the cars to guns ratio, and you would still find more deaths due to cars.
Take away drunk drivers and there are still more deaths due to cars through negligence. The only place where death by gun is higher is through intentional killing, y'know, homicide, murder, all that fun stuff.
I always felt that the blame the gun maker for illeagal usage of the gun was stupid. If they applied that same logic to cars, cars would be so expensive nobody could own them because of all the law suits would cause the car companies to have to jack up the prices to cover the costs. Forign car companies would most likely stop selling cars in the US and we'd be left with the big three selling us cars.

This shows people will fight over anything, including a simple analogy used to compare guns to cars. Anything the government bans or has banned should really be looked at, it isn't the governments job to protect the people from themselves, stop trying to control people from destroying their lives by banning the particular instrument of destruction, people just find a more dangerous way anyway. Are you paying the least bit of attention to your methodology? If you say, "Cars cause more deaths in American than guns do," I'll say, "That's because there are more cars than guns." Adjust the mortality statistics for /availability/ cars and guns, and then tell me which one is more likely to be fatal.
