Uberia: Chapter XVIII Enter Maddox
The rain had lightened up in Yahoo for the time being. The warriors followed Dlove through the city streets, moving their way to the outskirts of the city. As they approached the gates to leave the city, Loki pulled back on Dlove's cloak, "Where are you taking us?" she asked.
"Relax friend, do you honestly think Maddox would be living in the heart of the city?" She frowned as she looked out beyond the gates into the unknown, a dark forest lie ahead of them as they moved out of the safety of the city. "I have a bad feeling about this" Lisacat muttered under her breath. As Loki, hidden101, lisacat, and cchero followed Dlove, they knew they would be leaving the safety of the city and would be putting their lives at risk by trusting Dlove. They marched into an area they were not familiar with, but they had no choice, they had to find Maddox.
"Ok, arm yourselves" Phinch said as his hands began to glow. The vagabonds of Dos had them surrounded, and they did not seem happy that Uberians were in their city.
"You wretched dogs, we'll not stand by as you march into this city and kill our people" Said an old man holding a sharpened broomstick. Bob took note of their situation, "We've got about twenty, thirty attackers here... tops." Hairsphincter drew his sword, "We have to be careful, and keep this contained, if others see the commotion, they could keep coming." William Q. Percy took his bow from over his arm and loaded a post-burst arrow, "I can take out the largest concentration with this", he said as he began to scan the crowd for his strongest hit point. Ducky dug her boots into the ground as the filthy antagonists inched forward. General Tak knew there was no other way, he held his sword up and sharply dropped it to the ground, signifying the attack. William Q. Percy launched an arrow into the crowd, the arrow burst into multiple posts taking out four of the men in crowd. Pandemonium broke out as the crowd closed in on the warriors. Phinch launched his "Proof of a higher power" post blasting a chunk of shoulder and neck off of an incoming Microsof, who tripped from the pain and fell face first into the mud. The rain was picking up and making visibility and battle difficult. A pitchfork came screaming at General Tak's face but Ducky deflected the attack, and quickly used her boot dagger to stab the man in the throat. "Thanks Ducky", just after giving thanks, General Tak saw a man drive a garden hoe into her back. "Ducky no!" She dropped to her knees, looking up at Tak, "General T....ak...Sorry...." she fell face first into the mud. General Tak lept over her and drew back his battle axe. With primal rage he cleaved the man from the top of his skull to his waist. General Tak put his boot in the fallen man's chest and pulled out his axe. He quickly rushed to Ducky's aid, rolling her face out of the mud. Dead. Hairspincter heard his General cry out as he struggled with his own fight, two men and one woman were bludgeoning his shield at full force, knocking him back a few feet. He pushed forward, kicking one of the men's exposed shin with his steel toe boot and spinning around catching the fighting woman's cheek with the back of his hand, knocking her unconscious. He grabbed the last man standing by the throat, lifting him off the ground and crushing his windpipe like a paper bag. Bob clothes lined the man with the sharpened broomstick, and drove his face into the muddy water, eventually causing him to go limp and drown. It didn't seem like they were making progress as more men and women rushed in to close the gaps. General Tak had began to lose faith that they were going to make it when a blast of white light wiped out the majority of the attackers. Flashes of light circled around them as the attackers started to drop like flies. A lone woman, her hands smoking from the recent posts, stood in the rain before them. She had completely wiped out the attackers from behind. General Tak, heaving from all of the activity, looked up and recognized her instantly. "Loren1, you're alive!"
"Through here", Dlove said as he pushed through the heavy brush that lead them off the beaten trail. "Here is the entrance." Large granite statues guarded the entrance to an ancient cave that only time could find. It would be possible to search for days and still miss the entrance to this dungeon of mystery, as it was nestled in a heavy brush of thorns and ivy. The warriors stood before one of the most ancient places where the post was practiced. "Xmission", proclaimed Loki, "We've found it!" Dlove pulled the arm of one of the statues to trigger the lock, and then pulled the two stone gates open to the darkness below. "Watch your step here, stairs lead down to the light" Dlove said as he led the adventurers to the cavern below. The walls gave an eerie glow from a soft luminous moss that grew on the cavern walls. As they descended further, they could see light coming from the hall below. They moved further into the belly of the underground, following their guide's lead as he moved down the long and narrow hall. After what seemed like an eternity of moving through an underground labyrinth, they opened two large iron doors to reveal a large room, with candles everywhere. Four men stood at attention in a gauntlet formation, forming a line that led to a man with his back to the warriors. Surrounding him were four statues of different men in various fighting poses. The candles glimmered and danced in a simultaneous show all over the room. The floors were lined with various furs and animal skins of all shapes and sizes.
"Lord Maddox, I have brought the warriors that are seeking you." The man rose, he was wearing black pants, a black long sleeve shirt, and black boots. He slowly turned, displaying a patch across his left eye. If an unknowing person ran into this man on the streets, they would take him for a pilferer, or a thief. This he was not; he was Maddox, a legendary war hero who was known throughout Cyber as the Lord of the Post. He was the undisputed champion who has never found a match in battle. Loki led the group as the others followed, she dropped to one knee, causing the others to follow suit. "Lord Maddox"
"Rise my child", Maddox said as he walked out to meet them. He moved to Loki, and embraced her. "So nice to see you Loki, who are your friends?" Loki moved through them, pointing them out, "You know Hidden101, and Lisacat. Here with me also are Ed Dee, Rizzo, Iddqd and Streetpunk."
"I know all of you, save this one." He pointed in Ed Dee's direction.
"He is with me, milord, and I can vouch for him."
"I know he is fine, I can sense his presence and it comes with friendly intentions, a newbie I presume?"
"Yes Lord Maddox, I am an apprentice of Reallybored"
Maddox looked at him and smiled, "Very well, welcome" He turned to his men standing at attention, "Allow me to introduce you to my personal guard. You have already met Dlove, along with him, Bargled, DrStrangedhuv, Murphy and JMG114. They are my elite, you may have met them before, but they are now under my study, I am helping them to train and become the very best." He moved over to a small table and poured some brandy, "But enough of that, now that we've been formally introduced, what can I do for you?" Loki accepted his offer for a glass of brandy, and as she took a sip, she started but was interrupted by a low growl. "What was that?" She said, grasping the hilt of her blade. A large black panther came in from another room, moving up to Maddox. Maddox playfully scratched his ears, "Don't worry about him, that's just Delhomme, he is my friend. The large cat sat, carefully watching for anything that might be harmful to his master. "Loki I'm sorry for the interruption, go on." Maddox said as he continued to scratch the panther's ears. After Loki regained her composure, she began. "Lord Maddox, I do not know if you are aware, but Post-killers are invading Uberia and I suspect they will eventually pour out into Cyber. McBain leads them in a ruthless conquest which has already taken the lives of many and caused us to flee from both Ubersite and Boredatwork. I fear also that the Triad has been released, we've already been attacked by the siren, and if one is loose, they could all be running amok. A virus has been unleashed, this time unbeatable, and our Lord has contracted it. Dotcom has been qualified as the origination point of the virus, and it has since been quarantined and yet, the virus still spreads. Some of our Knights have been experiencing...sensations or acts of scripting. Reallybored, who is not with us at this moment, unleashed a firewall on the siren, we fear that these are all signs of the..." Maddox interrupted, "Of the end of Cyber as we know it?"
"Yes milord" Loki Answered. Maddox looked up, as if in deep thought. "Loki, you've told me a lot, and honestly, those factors are the least of your worries. Cyber itself is at risk, but not because of what you have told me. McBain, Koolmang, the Post-Killers, they are all pawns of a bigger threat. They did not attack you out of their own accord, and didn't have the means to build an army without help. We are all in grave danger, and our time is running out. Loki did you notice how blue the sky has been lately?
"Yes, almost...too blue"
"It's another sign of the end, it's the world of cyber reacting itself to the threat of imbalance. The world of cyber is in danger, and cyber, as an entity, recognizes this issue. It's reacting in the only way that it can, by trying to bring itself back into balance. All of the recent post-kills along with the release of the triad have caused a skew of evil to enter this world far too quickly and throw the world off balance. This is causing the system to overcorrect this problem. This is probably the reason for reallybored's firewall, and you will start noticing it happen to your friends more and more. The world of Cyber is unleashing its power through those that channel the post for good.
"Balance" Added Ed Dee
"Exactly my friend", Maddox continued, "But the system of cyber is not perfect, and it is trending towards an even deeper problem. By overworking like this, it's causing a malfunction. Problems are appearing everywhere. The virus. The Triad. The blue sky.
"What is it with the blue sky, why is that so dangerous?" Asked Rizzo
"It's a precursor, a warning what is to come" Maddox said
"What is coming?"
"The blue sky of death"
"Loki, how much do you know about Microsoft?"

Nevermind the triad, what's going on with MickGinny and that whole crew? Don't forget about them. Also I'm going to miss DathAwesome (I wanted to see him do something awesome) I wanted to mention that I'm glad to see you're not affraid to kill characters off. It seemed like in the beginning no one was getting killed, despite the ass kicking that was going on. So another +2 for satisfying our blood lust.

dooby dooby doo beware of the loren.
Good job with the Percy archer thing. Also explaining something that were left off. But you really haven't involved the triad as much. Unless I am mistaken, one of them has yet to appear, and the other two have only made one appearance.

Not to sell the chapter short and only focus on one aspect, but Dlove really was just saying that it would be cool to incorporate the blue screen of death. So that's pretty sweet that it made it in.
And it also explained Reallybored's FireWall, which I've been asking about for like 8 chapters- thanks.
Also I particularily liked the concept of William Q Percy as an archer with post arrows. I'm glad that as the story goes on, you're still able to add new and interesting weapons and "super powers" for the characters.

Fuckin awesome man, another great chapter. I can't believe you put the BSOD in the story man, I was just talking to Mac yesterday about how it would be cool to incorporate that bastard child into the story.

Just take note to number of posts since he joined less then 3 months ago. Then look at his hits. I blame everyone on this site for him. He has found a formula for his own brand of success and gotten everyone to go along with it. This guy is the polar opposite to the good authors I listed above.
