To start out on the right foot, let me let you know, that this post is not going to impress or entertain you in any fashion. My intent is only for conversation to arise out of it.
I spent the last 3 years on a spiritual quest, desperately adopting whatever new ideas or thoughts on life seemed most profitable along the way. I've been searching out any kind of information I could on bettering myself and at one point or another have applied the lessons learned.
One of the many things I've been thinking about lately which I'm only discussing out of lack of anything better to post, is opinions. Opinions are what keep us from reaching any real peace or compassion. How exactly does one have compassion for another when their opinions on life differ from ours in such dramatic ways? Opinions are useless because they serve no purpose. They are not universal knowledge or a general consensus. They are shit, based only off one persons view of something that we can't prove.
Roughly, the definition of an opinion is: a belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof. Why then would anyone competent decide to harbor such inadequate thoughts? If you consider yourself someone who is in the search of the truth, then holding opinions on anything is impossible. This being because truth lies outside the limits that opinions bestow upon themselves. The very definition points out the fact that opinions hold no truth outside of the persons mind that thinks it.
There is not one opinion that once held in a legitimate debate, would survive. This is because opinions have more flaws than the bible. The worst thing about an opinion is the fact that the opinion itself is lacking proof, which becomes the arguing point for it's destruction. Much like philosophy, opinions will be argued for all of time. At least until we reach a logical and objective approach. Yes, yes, I know. This post is one big opinion and I'm an asshole for even posting it. These facts won't change my desire to rid myself of opinions if possible. I think that if it is, then it will be my next step to betterment in my life, work and relationships. Do you think we as humans can be capable of having not a single opinion? A penny for your thoughts-

My main objective is only to rid myself of the opinions that produce negativity. Opinions from my experience have led to nothing profitable. If nothing exists but opinions, then that means we'll as a whole never meet in the middle seeing as we lack a true understanding of any others view, nor care to explore it. We will just stay right here with our own idea of truth and waste away. That doesn't seem right.

Oh, good, I just read the post and what I said still stands.
No, you can't escape your opinions, you would cease to exist.
Unless you believe that there is an outside source that we as
humans can tap into to form our thoughts and reality, as I said before,
reality is ourself and is thus composed completely of our opinions.
It is futile, impossible, and counter-productive to try to rid yourself
of opinion.

Perhaps meditation? I hear when it is perfected, a state of meditation is all about having no thoughts.

Nothing exists but opinion. That is all that our brains can comprehend.
The world is what we perceive it to be, as there is no
other way you can experience the world than through yourself.
From that, we can move on and DEFINE the world as our perceptions.
Since that's all we have, that is effectively reality.
Nothing exists but personal opinion, objectivity is an illusion.
I didn't really read the whole post, so if I spewed off on a totally
different tangent than what you were going for I apologize.
