Did anyone catch our president performing his comedy show at the annual dinner of Washington radio and TV correspondents? It was absolutely appalling!
The scene was sort of a "self-roast" where image slides are running on a display ala Tonight Show or something, and he is narrating the slides.
"Those weapons of mass destruction have to be here somewhere," Bush joshed as he narrated a slide show of him looking behind furniture, as if hunting for them. "Nope, no weapons over there. Maybe under here"
It's just amazing that as his popularity continues to plummet, that he thinks this is a good idea. He really is a moron! He is without a doubt the least eloquent president in US history!
BTW...the family members of dead G.I.s were not too amused

*politically correct alarm!*
oh who cares. Honestly. I hate Bush, but even I can take a joke... even if it's not too funny.

It's funny that although I have not discussed my politics at all in this post, the mere fact that I don't support Bush, or rather that I don't support his laughing at the misfortunes of our country makes me a liberal hippie with a stick up my ass.
Republicans are funny that way. They seem to think that there in no middle of the road or even right leaning democrats. Seems all the republicans I've met, as soon as I say I'm a democrat they say "Oh you're a liberal"
There are extremes on both sides. If being my being registered as a democrat makes me a hippie liberal, does that mean that all registered republicans belong to a cult in Montana where they have a collection of fire arms and wives? Or that they are all God fearing Christians who use sniper rifles in front of abortion clinics?

"How did everyone enjoy dinner? We had a few problems finding a chef. Every time someone in my administration nominated one he would get blocked by the Senate.

"I lean toward conservatism, but I don't understand most of those weirdoes."
------------------------------
I agree. Conservative efforts remind me of an old election ad from back in the 80's...it webnt something like this:
First a series of close up camera shots.
Confident Housewifey-Looking Lady: "Hi, I'm Stella Johnson, and I'm a Republican."
Spanish Immigrant-Looking Guy: "Hallo, my name eez Jose Rodriguez, and I am a Republican."
Black Woman: "Hello, I'm Mary Brown, and I'm a Republican."
Not-Quite-Hip And Too Young To Vote Kid: "Hi, I'm Steve Barker, and I'm a Young Republican."
Then the camera angle changes to reveal a huge state building. Stella, Jose, Steve, and Mary are all standing on the steps, surrounded by an army of old white-haired men in business suits. In chorus, they say:
"WE'RE ALL REPUBLICANS!"
I'd love to see ads like that again.

I think it may be a bit of an overreaction, but then I also thought the big fuss over Paul Wellstone's memorial service was an overreaction. They do this roast kind of thing every year. I remember one that Clinton did where he was riding a bicycle around the Whitehouse. Maybe W should just clue in that he's just not funny. I don't remember the particulars, but I recall that he tried to do some funny joke with Arnold and completely screwed up the punch line. I think he's just so stupid that he thinks he nailed it and laughs with that snivelly laugh of his and since he's the goddamn President of the United States everyone is forced to laugh and it just encourages this sort of thing.
Plus this funny funny joke of his was about a controversial issue. It lacks a certain screwing an intern political astuteness that someone in his position should have. How did he think people who were against the war and have lost kids over there were going to react?
List of Topics UU Should not Joke About:
abortion
9/11
ghey marriage - I know it's tempting, but just no
war in Iraq
9/11 (I think it's worth mentioning again)
9/11 (seriously, nothing at all ever on 9/11)
Possible Suggestions
"Sorry I'm late, I just wanted to do a quick wardrobe check backstage to make sure that I didn't have a malfunction up here."
(cue polite laughter)
"How did everyone enjoy dinner? We had a few problems finding a chef. Every time someone in my administration nominated one he would get blocked by the Senate.
(more polite laughter)
I mean clearly I'm not a comedian, he's got people for that but just for the sake of not embarrassing the US to the rest of the world, use good judgment up there.

I don't like hippies at all, but conservatives are really starting to baffle me. I lean toward conservatism, but I don't understand most of those weirdoes.

As apposed to having spent a shitload of money, killed a bunch of people, and having been lied to AND having the stick up my ass?
take the less of two evils.
"pull the stick out and have a laugh once in awhile"
Laugh about the fact that we have spent $108,369,591,260 so far and growing every minute?
Laugh about the fact that 692 Americans soldiers are dead?
Laugh about our highest elected official lying to the public and then joking about it?
Maybe it's time you stopped laughing and woke up!

Ha, liberals have to remove the stick? Doesn't the term "conservative" mean anything other than rightist?
