I recently purchased a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero back in December to replace my 2002 Chevy Cavalier. One of the features on my new car is XM radio. Allow me to tell you why XM radio is so amazingly great and how it brings back lovely childhood memories among other things.
First, I have over 100 channels to pick and choose the stations I like. Do you realize how wonderful that is? Let's say I have 150 channels to choose from. I can listen to virtually anything from country to rap to 80's to comedy to ESPN!
This brings me to my next point...I can pick stations entitled *90's* or *80's* or whatever all the way back to the 40's. What a way to narrow it down, as it would seem almost impossible to just pick stations randomly. I can choose to listen to comedy if i want to or sports of any kind if i would rather. There's a *weather only* station AND i can listen to MTV or VH1 or CMT or WHATEVER! It's great!
One feature I like on my car is that I can scan through different types of music. I just pick...say...alternative. All I have to do is choose *alternative* and it will jump to the stations that are designated that genre. It saves me the aggrevation of actually having to scroll through every one of these 150 channels just to find the type of music i want to listen to.
It's perfect for long road trips. You don't have to worry about long ass commercials or annoying interruptions. If commercials are your thing...there's a whole station devoted just to that just for you!
Short Story:
A week after I bought my car, I was driving trying to program the stations I wanted. I picked 90's just because i was curious to see what songs they would play that I would remember. The song "Far Behind" by Candlebox came on. It was like taking a trip back to when i was 14 years old. I remembered it so vividly I almost rearended the car in front of me from the image. I met a guy in Ocean City, MD and we became penpals sort of. We would write each other all the time and finally he came to visit me in MD (he lived in PA). The first time we kissed that song was playing. It was such a good memory and a long forgotten one at that.
I highly recommend XM radio although I will say with 150 channels to choose from...how the hell are you supposed to pick 6??? I need more presets than that!

I had it when it first came out. Now for road trips, it's all about the in dash 7" motorized screen with the DVD and video games.

I love you, Michelle, but it's people like you who are going to put a lot of DJs out of a job. Oh, wait. Why do I care? I'm not a DJ anymore...whoo! +2 for you!

XM is great if you love waiting for the signal to be found everytime you switch a station. For the money, it isn't worth it.
