It was a nice relaxing afternoon as I sat outside a coffee shop next to the beach. As I was enjoying the sun set I was disturb by a soft deep but nice voice.
"Hi miss. Do you mind if I sit here?"
I looked over my shoulder and found myself looking at the hottest guy I have ever encountered.
"Umm...sure, but my boyfriend will be back any minute"
As attractive as I found him, I just got out of a serious relationship and I wasn't ready to get into anything.
"Oh...because I've noticed that you've been sitting here alone all afternoon, which didn't seem to me like you have a boyfriend at all."
He's been noticing me?
"You've been noticing me?"
"Haha...yeah..."
Okay, change of plan. MAYBE I'll give it a shot.
David and I actually have a lot in common and by the end of the day, we exchanged our phone number and things kinda grew from there.
We had our 1st date, 2nd, 3rd and many times after. And as dates progress, so did our relationship. By the end of the month, I was waking up next to him in bed for the first time. I opened my eyes and so did he, and then we looked at each other with a smile on our faces, it was the best feeling I've had for a while. A thought suddenly came into my mind, so I quickly put off that smile and put on my face of confession.
"I'm not a virgin anymore, do you still love me?"
He slowly put his hand on the side of my cheek and said:
"What kinda question is that? We're not living in the Stone Age, Esther. Of course I'd still love you. The only thing that matters to be is that you love me too."
That might been a little corny, but it was very, very sweet.
I responded as I found my smile again
"I love you too."
Not long after, he asked me to move in with him and so I did. And every morning, I would get up bright and early to prepare for the most delicious breakfast he ever had. He would come up behind me with a big hug calling me the most beautiful hardworking wife ever. Love was spread over the room along with the smell of the eggs, toasts, pancakes and warm cup of milk.
One Friday night, we decided to go watch a movie and on the way back home, we saw this sign that said:
$50 TO BUY BACK YOUR VIRGINITY!!!!
It was said that there's this magic rock that you put next to you bed when you have sex, and you will find you once again had your cherry pop.
David turned to me and said:
"Not being a virgin is not a crime, people that tries to sell fake hope disgusts me."
That might been a little corny, but it was very, very sweet.
"I love you."
David and I have been living for about two months now, things are great. He decided to take me to see his parents. At first I was afraid, afraid they might not like me. But his parents are really nice, and before we left, his mom came over to me and hand me a box. In that box holds a family ring. I was shocked, happy and a little anxious because I can picture us getting married now.
November was coming to an end and my birthday is coming. David came home one day with a sad and helpless look on his face, he said he has to go to Japan two months for business and that he's leaving tomorrow. I didn't feel good about it but what can I do, so as we were packing I said something probably every woman would say.
"When you're gone, don't you let me find out you did anything unfaithful"
"You're holding my family ring I wouldn't dare cheat on you, hahaha."
After he was gone, he toke the sun light along with him, everything was so dark, all was left was the house and I. Every morning I would wake up and have no mood to cook breakfast. I didn't know how much I needed him until he was gone. Although, he would call every night right at 10 to try to bring us closer but all it does is bring up how much I really misses him. On my birthday, he called an hour early to wish me happy birthday and proposed to me. He wanted to get marry right when he gets back. I was so happy I didn't know what to say.
Sometimes I would be cleaning the house and break out a smile out of no where. Haha.
One day I came back home from shopping, I found the door unlocked and someone was in the house, I got scare and about to call the police but turns out it was only David. Only David?! David is home!!! I ran up there and gave him a great big hug. I didn't want to let go, but I eventually did. Then I ask him why he was home early, and he just said they didn't need him there anymore. But he didn't look too happy.
It's been about a week since he got back from Japan, he could never seem to look at me in the eyes and he hasn't really laughed a bit since he got back. My feeling tells me something isn't right, I don't know what and I don't want to ask because I'm afraid that he really did something unfaithful to me.
A few days later, some girl came knocking on our door. David's face turned pale and shaky after he saw her. I told them I needed fresh air and left. A few minutes after I was pondering outside the house, David rushed out with blood all over his hands, turns out that girl tried to killing herself by cutting her veins.
We went to the hospital and the girl was luckily rescued. Sitting along the bed side was David as the girl slowly waking up from massive loss of blood.
Her first words were:
"David...how can you leave me like this...how can you be so irresponsible?"
Her hands were holding his tightly, and he kissed her hand and said:
"Okay, okay, I won't leave, I won't leave"
It was as if he was shooting a goddamn arrow right through my heart.
We went outside he started explaining how it all happened. He said that they lived in the same hotel and sees each others a lot, then eventually became friends. One night they got really drunk and...
I burst into tears asked if he were to choose me or her.
He looked down and said he doesn't know.
But at last he chose her instead of me. I didn't understand, I didn't want to understand, but I asked anyways, I had to know.
"Why her and not me?! Why?!"
"Esther, you're stronger than she is, you can live without me, but her..."
"Are you saying she would die for you? I'm telling you, I would too!"
I toke out a knife from my pocket but David stopped me before it got to my vein.
"Please don't this, Esther? She's different than you are. She was a virgin. I'm a man. What kind of man would I be if I let a pure clean girl left to rot?"
I looked him in the eyes and slapped him right across his face.
"What about all those things you said about not caring if someone is a virgin or not? Deep inside, you think virgins are superior!"
I threw away the knife, because dying for this bastard is not worth it.
I moved out, I gave him back the ring, photos, everything.
A few months after, I was shopping at a grocery store and I saw her, she got a little chubbier and turns out, she was pregnant.
"Three months now"
"Oh...best of luck"
I said that with a smile I put on forcefully.
Few days after, it was really late at night. My phone started ringing, it was David. He was scared and nervous as he talked; he said she was having a miscarriage.
I quickly grabbed my coat and went to the hospital. On the way there, I though to myself, don't you hate them? Why are you helping them? I don't know.
When I arrived, I saw David walking around in circles. I told him to calm down, everything was going to be fine, and they have good doctors.
Finally, the doctor came out and he said that the baby is safe.
David was so relieve.
The doctor kept on talking:
"You men don't know how to take care of women at all, after so many times of induced abortion, you should be more careful."
I was stunned, especially David. He just stood there looking at the doctor.
After leaving the hospital, I really want to laugh out loud. But as I was walking, I walked passed the corner where me and David first saw the sign of selling virginity. That girl wisely used that $50 to destroyed David and my pass and future. Ha...Love only worth 50 dollars.

David first told Esther that he doesn't care whether Esther was a virgin or not but turns out that he does care and chose to stay with a girl he thought to be a virgin. The girl he chose to be with not only wasn't a virgin but more than once had abortion.

Some of this was confusing, but I liked it overall. I've had my heart broken before too. They always seem so perfect in the beginning, don't they?
