Well, it's Easter Monday. I (luckily, thanks to Catholic colleges) have off today, and had off Good Friday (yay for 4-day weekends). For some odd reason, I can't get that Alanis Morrisette song outta my head.. I think it's called "You Oughta Know" or something to the effect. The worst part is that I HATE Alanis Morrisette(except when she plays God. That was hilarious, and may I say, ambitious casting). So her music gets to me, yet sticks in my head like peanut butter to the roof of a dog's mouth. You may say I'm lucky, after reading the part about the vacation. Just wait for it.. I got mine.
But I digress. Just because it's the day after Christ rose from the dead (a day which apparently changes with the tides), doesn't mean it'll be any more merciful than any other Monday. Which means that today has kicked my ass whilst wearing a steel toed boot with a spike on it, not unlike Gene Simmon's KISS boots for onstage performances.
The day started off just as any Monday should... slept too late, it's rainy and cold out, and I'm not anywhere near packed for going back to school later. I go to a breakfast meeting with an old friend, we talk for an hour. Then I get back home and begin the mad dash to pack up my car and get on the road by 2; I'm picking someone up who also goes to my school. I get all of my stuff together, mooch a 20 off of my mom, and pack up my car and hit the road. I pick up my passenger, and we drive, rather swiftly it feels, across the NJ/PA state line and into Lehigh Valley. What would be a 2 1/2 hour drive is just under two hours, despite bad traffic at the Water Gap. We pull into campus, I drop her off with her stuff at her dorm, and I park.
Then I notice it...
My backpack is gone. I didn't pack it up with my other stuff when I left. No big deal though; I only have every book I need to pass my courses in the backpack, due to the Easter Break. I brought the books home to do work(which did not happen). So I am now without my coursebooks, I have two papers due this week, a quiz Thursday(don't even get me started on Thursdays; the weekly cocktease to the weekend that they are) and I don't have any of the books I need to do any of that work.
I don't seem so fuckin' lucky now, do I?
I didn't think so.
