Proposed Modification To UberMadness! Bracket (3526 hits)

I have a proposed modification for the UberMadness! bracket.

It's actually a four dimensional hypercube that cannot exist in either a single physical space or in a single moment in time. For simplicity's sake, this is just a two dimensional representation.

Also, instead of just a straight counting of votes, this system will require a supercomputer that must be built in the future and transported into the past back to the year 1955 at which point it must begin working on the genetic algorithms which will eventually spawn a race of androgenous clones who will determine the winner of the UberMadness! tournament using a series of matrix transformations and a couple of those twenty sided dice that can be used in Dungeons and Dragons.

Feedback is welcome.

See a cube is one thing... but a HYPERCUBE! Now there's something you don't see every day, especially one of the four-dimensional variety.

There was a DeLorean for sale here in the Peg for $25000CDN a while back. Let's see...

$25000CDN = $19000US
19000 divided by 8000 = 2.375

Each registered user would have to cough up $2.40US to get our DeLorean. Plus a lot more to get the plutonium or Mr. Fusion and flux capacitor... I tell you, time travel is a tough business.

I think you should have used the following integral instead: Integral from 6 to 9 of e^x = f(u^n)

If you fold the edges together you'll find a cypher, a simple binary true/false that will help you solve the puzzle.

Once you solve the puzzle you'll turn into a lesbian that likes space travel and drunk actors who play the bongo drums naked.

**Just out of interest - does this happene every year?**

This is the first year, so far. It was Razor's idea because having a job and a wife and a baby wasn't giving him the stress he needed. Plus we need some kind of sporting event to fixate on until football season comes around again.

That bloody integral diverges.

Please tell me it diverges and I'm not just retarded.
------------
I don't remember enough to know for sure, but I think it converges. If you replace the infinity with b, then treat it as b->infinity, you end up with pi^(-2). But that may be completely wrong, and probably is. I'm pretty sure the derivitive of e^ax dx = (1/a)(e^ax) but I don't know how to treat it when it's in the exponent.

So therefore we assign each axis a dimension...starting with the upper left as "y" as in "y do we care" then:

N = The number of civilizations in The Milky Way Galaxy whose electromagnetic emissions are detectable.

R* =The rate of formation of stars suitable for the development of intelligent life.

fp = The fraction of those stars with planetary systems.

ne = The number of planets, per solar system, with an environment suitable for life.

fl = The fraction of suitable planets on which life actually appears.

fi = The fraction of life bearing planets on which intelligent life emerges. For more information, please visit Dr. William Calvin's "The Drake Equation's fi"

fc = The fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that releases detectable signs of their existence into space.

L = The length of time such civilizations release detectable signals into space.

So that:

N = R* • fp • ne • fl • fi • fc • L

And BAM!!! We have our brackets!
