My friends and colleagues, may I present to you:
What is the Purpose of the United Nations?

As I'm watching the news, "Whah, whah, whah, No Spin Zone, whah, whah, CNN Breaking News, whah, whah, UNITED NATIONS, whah, whah, the Dow Jones, whah, whah," I began to ponder: "Who is this U.N. organization? What is the point or purpose of having the United Nations?"
And then it hit me..! The point of the United Nations is to promote peace in the world and to provide humanitarian aid to impoverished nations. YES, that's the purpose. My mission is complete, I am satisfied. But wait.
The United Nations failed at stopping two of the last three wars in my short memory which were brought on by the United States (the Security Council did not authorize U.S. involvement in Iraq II or Kosovo). Further, I can think of two countries off the top of my head that were in violation of resolutions passed by the U.N. (Iraq and Israel). Hmmmmm? Maybe the point of the United Nations is not so clear after all.
Now my opinion seeps through. Quit reading; don't go on, I'm warning you!
Is the United Nations a quintessence of bureaucratic red-tape that sits around trying to solve the problems of the world, when in fact they cannot even tie their own shoelaces without approval from someone or something; a shoe-tying resolution if you will!?
And so it goes.
The United Nations passes numerous resolutions to "police" the world. The only problem is that there is no backbone or official authority in their establishment/embodiment. Anyone remember the flaws with the Articles of Confederation? Exactly. For the United Nations to work, they need to hold a constitutional convention and reestablish themselves as an actual power. Where once our fights (and still are) were Federalism v Anti-federalism, now would be Federalism v Earthism.
Resolutions passed, would be resolutions enforced. Dictators in power would be dictators in prison. Copyright law in the United States, would be copyright law in China. Minimum wage standards in the Philippians would be exactly that, minimum wage standards in the Philippians! Violence against women in the West would be violence against women in Sudan. Drug dealing in East L.A would be drug dealing in Somalia... I think you get the point. The U.N. would become the official legislative, judicial, and executive branch of the world backed by representatives and senators of the jurisdiction in which they hold; every nation on earth.
In the mean time, there is really no point in having the United Nations because they have proven that their power is limited, unenforceable, and bureaucratic in nature. The United Nations has proven there only jurisdiction relies on volunteerism. "Yes this is the Taliban speaking. Can you Please come to our country and punish us for the abuse and slaughtering of our precious female population? Thank-you." Yeah right. And so this essay is not against a United World Order, it merely is against the current United Nations which has been officially deemed; Useless. Or in other words, the United Nations is one big charity (humanitarian-aid organization). Which even at that, seems to fail! Food for Oil scandal anyone?

I must admit, I didn't have time to read the post but since I bet this is a smart thing (coming from your mouth and all, it's been great as of late) I'll add a minor opinion.
You take a bunch of countries.
All with different agendas.
Ideologies.
Slants.
Curves.
Music preferences.
Religions.
Make them work together. Is it going to happen? Hell no. Everybody knows that one country can't get along with the next for shit. Hell, I bet Blair and Bush get into mad snowball fights in the winter.

As a proud American living in the great state of New Jersey (not too far from NYC), I say to the United Nations:
GET THE FUCK OUT!!
Seriously, it's a load of bureaucratic shit. The "diplomats" have free reign in NYC (ask any cop who has ever tried to give a diplomat a ticket or tried to arrest them for breaking the law). And, as mentioned, the U.S. pays way too much money into this racket.
You want a U.N.? Fine. Send it to Switzerland or Sweden or Norway or Luxembourg or some other "neutral" nation. But get it the fuck out of our country.

The UN is absolutely pointless from an American standpoint. It's basically a drain to the US. But if you're a small African nation, you have nothing to lose by joining because it's one great big welfare check.
All that it really does is foster communication between various nations, which may or may not prevent problems. That and cost the US a lot of tax revenue.

There is no point to the UN. They're a conglomeration of crooked nations that exist at the whim of the US. The entire organization is as corrupt as maggot-ridden meat. Just have the US pull out, you'll put an end to the UN.

Yeah, that is true, and they usually have to go along with mostly everything the U.S. says because over half of the U.N.'s money comes from the U.S. alone.
