"What the fuck is a 'journey of self-discovery and sexual epiphany,' anyway?"
"I will not have you talk in my class like that, young man."
"All you're trying to say is that this jackass finally meets his long-lost dad and thinks that
having sex with another man is better than whacking off to pictures of 'barely legal teens'. It's
not as if his life becomes better in any way because this twisted up little son of a bitch finally
meets the man who used to beat his mom, back before the kid could even walk. And this sexual
epiphany bullshit; why do you liberal cum-bucket faggots always try to force this self-validating
agenda of homosexual enlightenment when you don't realize that just because *most* of the people
in the world have no desire to live your putrid lifestyle?"
Andrew Keegan had already slammed the door on his way to the parking lot before Mr. O'Brien could
collect his thoughts enough to calm the rest of the class. It might have been the cut about being
gay that sliced him so deep. Obviously, O'Brien was gay - it was an unspoken assumption that
everyone in town knew the fact but kept quiet about it. This was the first time since he had
moved to Lewisburg that he had been outrightly confronted in public. The stark silence in the
front of the classroom was in dynamic contrast with the snickers and giggles coming from the back
of the room. The embarrassment on both sides of the room, however, washed out any sense of that
contrast to those involved. Luckily for Mr. O'Brien, school would let out in fifteen minutes.
"I'm sorry for Mr. Keegan's outbreak. We should all have a bit of sympathy for his lack of an
open mind." He paused. "Go ahead and study or something."
It was a shame, O'Brien thought, that the one student who inarguably had the most intelligence of
anyone in his class failed to motivate himself because of his bigotry. It was O'Brien's first
year, and he thought to himself that this would all smooth over as time passes.

"You're home early, Drew," said Danny Keegan, Andrew's father, as Andrew stormed into the house.
Danny, or Big Dan as the people around town ironically called him, had been off work for the last
couple of weeks and was in desperate need of some rest. Although he was out of work, it seemed as
though his stress level had gone through the roof lately. Perhaps it was the obvious tension in
Andrew since Danny and Andrew's mother had finalized their divorce. Andrew made his way through
the living room just quickly enough to hear his father and just quickly enough to ignore him.
Danny also knew all too well that his son had been having trouble with the lifestyle of his new
teacher. It was becoming a routine for Andrew to leave class and come home early.
Andrew slammed the door and turned on his computer. As Winamp began to shuffle through its
playlist, Andrew lay in bed, daydreaming of a better life. If only he had the balls to use the
gun he kept hidden under his bed.

After grading a few papers and stopping at Speedway to get a cup of stale coffee, O'Brien finally
made it to his driveway. "There's no rest for the weary," he whispered to himself as he locked
his car doors. It was strange; his 'life partner' was sitting on the couch, as he usually was,
watching the shows that he had watched every day since he had been laid off two weeks earlier.
"Dan!" O'Brien called out from the living room. "Big Dan, where are you?"

Two posts in two days. Perhaps my writer's block is officially over.
