His name was Julius. He had a certain gift his whole life, which eventually landed him a job as a school-teacher at the finest private elementary school in the nation. He loved every one of the children he taught, and they loved him.
There was one young girl, however, whom he loved most of all. Her name was Lana. Short chestnut hair, stunning green eyes, and shockingly mature for her 11 years. Something about her had captivated Julius. Maybe it was because he felt he could help her with her troubled life, maybe he felt that she would be a sort of new task he could undertake. Whatever the reason, he was obsessed with her.
He even fantasized about her at night.
Lana was a troubled girl. Julius knew that it was her father behind everything. He could see the hate inside her father's heart; he could feel the rage for the child he had created. How could someone harbor so much evil inside them?
Then one day, Lana came in with bruises on her arms.
"I fell down some steps." Was all she ever said.
Soon after, she came in again with a black eye.
"I walked into a door."
Hearing these things tore my heart open. I felt for this girl just as Julius had. But nothing has ever frightened me more in my entire life when I saw that she began to miss classes. It wasn't like her to miss school. Julius was equally distressed by this, so after 3 days he visited her home in the suburbs.
He was shocked to find that she lived in a small house in a lower-middle class neighborhood. Almost every one of his students lived in large homes in respectable neighborhoods. Julius hesitated.
What was he going to say? Shouldn't he have called the house first? The school might not look favorably on this course of action. He could lose his job. He stepped out of his car and lit up a cigarette. He hardly smoked except when he was stressed about something. Nonetheless, he kept a pack in his back pocket.
Somebody looked out from a window. No going back now. Julius sauntered to the door of her house, and was greeted by Lana's father. Julius staggered back when he saw what he had done to Lana.
With a heart-wrenching scream, Julius attacked him.
