CONNECTICUT - West Haven authorities are on the search for Julius Delmedico, 37, who allegedly killed Joseph Highland, 34 and kidnapped the victim's underage daughter, Lana Highland. Highland was found dead at the scene. Autopsies show that Highland had received severe blows to the head, nearly shattering his skull to pieces, several broken ribs, and his throat was torn out. Authorities are not sure if Delmedico is armed, but he is considered extremely dangerous.
A neighbor who wishes to remain anonymous commented, "It was almost as if a bear had attacked him. I can't believe a human being is capable of this kind of rage." Police chief Mark Thayer was equally shocked when he arrived on the scene on March 15, 4:37 PM. "There was blood everywhere. All of my men have seen horrendous things, but this is by far the worst crime we've seen in West Haven's history."
Reasons for Delmedico's attack are currently unknown. Delmedico, a teacher at a private school in Greenwich, was last seen heading south on I-95. Delmedico's coworkers, who also wish to remain anonymous commented, "How could he do this? All of the children here love him. I can't believe he would hurt anybody." No other school authorities are available for comment.
