As you all well know, college students + alcohol = silly results. Throw in 2 inches of snow in the state of North Carolina (where 2 inches of snow is considered a blizzard and everything shuts down for a week) and hilarity is sure to ensue.

Late this February all three combined to form what is the coolest and funniest prank I've ever been a part of (well sort of, we'll get to that later). Some of the fine students of NC State University discovered that one of our local news stations, New 14 Carolina, would allow any business to call in to report a closing, or open an account and report it online. The kicker is, they don't check the business name or contact information. Well, they didn't then. They do now.

It started out with someone requesting a listing for "Cecil's Cockring Emporium". After that went through with no questions asked, all hell broke loose. Shortly after that, they started checking the submissions and refusing almost all phone entries. But someone found a loophole. If you put in a name that sounded legit, you could change it online after it was approved. Once it had been approved, no one rechecked it. After a while of that, they didn't accept anything at all. Apparently nothing I sent sounded legit enough or I started trying too late, so I never got any entries through. It's a shame because I really wanted to request a listing for Bubs' Concession Stand from http://www.homestarrunner.com/

The following entries did make it through though. The pictures below are taken from PC's with TV tuner cards, or pictures of TV screens with digital cameras. I can assure you that none of them are photoshopped, except where I resized some of them and then made them all into 1 big image.

First, a few that need explaining: Colonel Angus Chicken is from a Saturday night live skit with all these people with southern drawls saying Colonel Angus, making it sound like cunnilingus. Melvin, Watkins and Sherrill are basketball players for NCSU. The "We When Sun" was supposed to mean we win Sunday. Unfortunately, we didn't win. Fuck you Loki!

Would you care to explain exactly how this is plagiarism? I wrote my own original first-hand account of what happened and included links for the source of everything on the page that wasn't mine. I didn't take credit for the idea or for any of the submissions that got through and onto the TV. I said in my post, if you bothered to even read it, that someone else found the flaw in the system and started exploiting it. I also admitted that none of the entries I tried got through. It wasn't for lack of trying either. I sat here for about 6 or 7 hours trying to get one through. I even kept changing my voicemail message to my latest entry attempt in case they called to check it out. I just posted about it here so the other members of Ubersite could see it as well because it was funny as hell.

The () are where paramaters that are being passed to a function would go. Just having () with nothing in between means no parameters are being passed. Unlike the JohnGalt41.RestrainingOrder(Anansie); line, which means that the variable "Anansie" is being passed into the function. I have to get a lot of them, so I don't want to write a new function for each one. The ; means it's the end of the line.

North Carolina has lots of fun town names. One of the places near where I grew up is called Possum Trot. Although I don't think it's an offical "town". It's more like a couple of pastures and a stop sign. My favorite town name in NC is near where my mom and aunt grew up, and where my grandparents still live: Horneytown. Amazingly my mom only has 1 sibling. My grandpa must not know where Foreplay is either. Either that or he takes a lot of wrong turns and ends up in Climax before he gets to Intercourse. Ah...sexual innuendo and grandparents, what a lovely combination.

I think just about anyone who meets me and talks to me for long enough comes to terms with the fact that I am a very sick, twisted person. Also factor in a few mountain dews, a Peer-to-Peer connection, and boredom and you get what might be the funniest combination imaginable.
