Ah.....Halo and Goldeneye.

Two of the most groundbreaking shooters ever. Both were and still are amazing, I could play both of them for hours on end.

But then comes the question....which one is better?

After careful thought, I decided on Goldeneye. I remember back in 6th grade my friends and I would play this game for hours on end at each others houses. It was all we ever seemed to do. I mean, there was something about it that seperated it from the rest, and NO James Bond game to date has even come close to being on par with Goldeneye.

But then in 2001, a game that launched off the Xbox and by some was said to be the best shooter ever came out. Halo.

I heard of this and had to see what the fuss was about. And it was amazing. The graphics, the control, gameplay, everything about it was great.

And even though Halo is more modern and looks better, (which some people judge games by) is it really the innovator that Goldeneye was back in 1997?

I've played both games for hours on end. I don't know which is better, but I decided they should bring Goldeneye back on XBOX. You should write a petition or something.

Goldeneye...because I was a god at pistols/temple/one-shot-kills setup. I would pick people off from across the big room in the damn temple with my Dosteveii or whatever it was.

Goldeneye. Halo is WAY overrated, as is the overpriced and even more overrated X-Box. I confess that I still own one, but I feel my Gamecube and Playstation 2 were better purchases (sigh, I'm never going to get laid).

How can you even compare Halo to Goldeneye? Goldeneye is by far the best console, multi-player, FPS ever. plus its a classic.

I've never actually played Halo. Goldeneye is the only worthwhile first-person shooter I've played. I would definitely say Goldeneye is the best multiplayer game I've played.

Goldeneye. The game was amazing for its time. The mines were fun as shit and shooting up a bathroom never gets old.
I really hate Halo even though ive played it like 3 times today with my friends. XBOX sucks.
Also with Goldeneye since it was on a cartridge(sp?) it didnt have loading time.

GoldenEye. It's a tough call because Halo is more advanced and lets you get more people together...but I can't get over how much goddamn fun I had in college when a group of 4 of us would play goldeneye until it got so heated it was scary. I guess depending on the situation, both games have their advantages, but overall, I have to go with Goldeneye. Nothing is more gripping than playing with pistols and zero body armor.

And as for the person who said to take this to a video game forum, he can go suck on some sweaty nuts. This place is essentially one big forum and who the fuck is he to say that video games aren't a valid discussion topic. Maybe he should take his ass back to his shitty ass website that no one looks at.

I am partial to Halo myself. But I think Counter-strike is the best first person shooter. EVER. Well wait a minute. Doom2 was the best first person shooter ever. But aside from Doom 2, CS pwns j00!

Obviously you never unlocked all the cheat codes on Goldeneye and experienced the utter delight of firing a million rockets directly into the air just so your friend could watch your body become engulfed in flames when they fell back to earth.

Definitely Halo by an umpteen amount, since even for console game, it managed to match the playability and damn right awesomeness of the best games of that type out around that time.

Goldeneye, althrough addictive and at the time unique for a console game never reached that standard and I often played the 'PC' shooters instead.
But that might have been because I don't have any real friends to play the multiplayer with <stiff>

I played the crap out of both, and loved them both. But I enjoyed Halo more. As far as being groundbreaking, I would say Goldeneye was more so. But for the sheer enjoyment of playing, Halo gets my vote. The combat is more intense, in my opinion.

+2 because those two are among my favorite games of all time.

Wrong. The problem with Goldeneye is on a 4 player split screen stuff is way too pixelated to make out what it is. That and the N64 controller blows.

As has been stated numerous times before, if you don't like the topic, don't read it. I'm tired of people -2ing a post just because it's a video game question. Ubersite is whatever the heck people decide to post. You don't like video games? Fine. Go away and don't post. That's all there is to it. If you don't like what they have to say about a game, or if you think the post just outright sucked, that's fine. But say it.

Secondly, on-topic, I think Halo is the better game. But I think they should learn some lessons from Perfect Dark regarding the stats. I love all the things it tracks (how far you've run, ammo used, fav weapons, damage dealt/taken, kills, etc., as well as the ranking system). I love Xbox's controller (the smaller one). They have the *best* (in my opinion) FPS console-controller design.

In terms of groundbreaking, I'd say a tie. In terms of which game is better I gotta say Halo. After all, Perfect Dark was a better game than Goldeneye just because it was Goldeneye with some new stuff and bots in the multiplayer. Halo allows for so much creativity. The entire game is incredibly fine-tuned, from the graphics to the gameplay, no detail was left out (except bots).
