Of course women have always been just as capable of cruelty as men, but its great that thanks to feminism this cruelty no longer needs to be hidden by sexist stereotypes such as softness gentleness, kindness, motherliness and submission.
People who harp on about these photos are really not seeing the big picture. Sure, terrorism can be expected to increase a thousand fold and a new era of violence and chaos is dawning. But think about the long-term gains for feminism:
-The men in these pictures are Muslims, ie big-time patriarchal repressors of wimmin. Think how this Muslim man feels. Not only is he being tortured, he's being tortured by a WOMAN! Think how other cloth-head men will feel seeing these pictures. They will be shitting themselves. Oh yes, I am woman, hear me roar!
-Throughout the Middle East, sisters imprisoned behind the patriarchial Muslim veil will also see these photos. They will see their western sister showing her stuff!! There can be no doubt that this will inspire them to tear that veil aside and KICK SOME CHAUVANIST ARSE.
That brave little US soldier pictured below is a modern heroine, and a matyre to our noble cause.

Oh yes Prickle, they are all "people of the book". According to the Abraham myth, Jews are the descendents of Isaac and Muslims are the descendents of Ishmael. yes apollo, even leaving aside the religious mania, there does seem grounds to believe the military-industrial complex (i'm not sure exactly what this is, but it sounds pretty bad and obviusly involves lots and lots of money)has a vested interest in continued WAR and scary evil enemies.
i was iterested that in a recent interview bob dylan said his song 'masters of war' was not in fact anti-war per se, it was anti the military industrial complex.
i'll just quote it again as its pretty good:

i'm in australia, loki, and we don't get that much coverage of US politics. more than usual lately, thanks to iraq.
generally we tend to view americans as a bit of a joke. it was only when i lived in Taiwan, where the english language press is just full of american stuff, that it dawned on me: fuck, america IS the most powerful country in the world.
bush and religious madness was something i suspected when he first started talking about iraq and used the word 'crusade'. it was generally regarded as a faux pas, but it seemed quite possible to me that he and his pop were members of templar masonic wiggly woo secret handshake funny costume ancient sacred duty holy blood of christian soldiers type clubs.
quite feasible.
something else i find funny - it wasn't until i was in my twenties (i'm forty years old)that i discovered Islam and Christianity actually come from the same fucking source and have lots of bits in common. I was absolutely amazed by that, as in my ignorance i'd just assumed they were completely different.
History certainly is the strangest story of all. I liked the business about how bush may not have been elected if a stupid clerk in whatever southern state it was had printed out the voting cards properly.

I fear that it is far more sinister than you that Prickle. Where are you by the by? I'm just asking because I don't know how familiar you are with the more vehemently right wing religious quarters of the US. If you have some time to kill, check out the religious order that Dubya belongs to, interesting stuff really. They believe that Israel is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy and that rebuilding oh fuck me I can't remember what it is that they are trying to rebuild. They believe that in order to bring about the second coming of christ that some temple has to be rebuilt on a site that is at this very moment, a mosque. Imagine the delight that this bring the Islamic world.

You know as to your original post before we got off track, I have a theory on the involvement of this woman person. Based on the fact that we know that an untold number of women military personnel (because you can't really call them servicemen can you?) have been raped by their comrades at arms, the very people upon which their lives depend, I wonder if this young lady were coerced into taking part in this abhorrent behavior. Who knows really, it's just a thought.
You are correct about the notion that women can be quite cruel. There is no more vicious and vindictive creature on the planet than a pubescent female. (shudder)
Also, this very morning as I was bleary eyed and suckling down coffee over my morning paper, I saw that yet again a woman has been told by God to kill her own children. I guess she did not care for her mother's day gift. I'm going to see my own dear mum this weekend. I would fear for my life, but she sent me an e-mail gushing over the gift I sent her. Still though, perhaps I should stop for flowers on the way.

its funny loki, a friend of mine remarked the other day that there was once a time when america was a popular country, when americans were the nice guys. he mentioned something about marshall plans and post-war reconstruction in europe.
it seems almost unimaginable now, a popular USA.
re. the war business, i have believed for some time that bushie and co. wanted the war in iraq and that the weapons inspections etc was all a farce. and i'd seen various theories as to why they wanted to go to war - oil, vengance, middle-east strategy etc.
but only just now did it occur to me that maybe the reason for going to war is actually to inflame the middle east and promote MORE WAR and MORE TERRORISM. ie, this is the PURPOSE of invading iraq, not a bumbling side-effect caused by incompetence.

Yes Prickle absolutely they wanted war. According to what I have read of Paul O'Neil and Woodward, Bush came into office talking about finding a way to justify this war on Iraq. Bush claimed from the very beginning that he was an MBA and not a statesman. He was going to run the country like a business. Presumably this means that he set goals and then challenged his staff to meet them, very businesslike but you can't run the government like a business - obviously. This war was one of his goals. He wasn't interested in justifying it, he was just interested in selling it. I have to admit, they did a damn fine job of it. They actually spun this thing so effectively that even now after the admission that there never were any WMDs and Sadam was not in any way connected to 9/11, people are still rabidly calling for war. The latest trick was to point to all the ills that Sadam committed and claim that we, praise jebus have uplifted these poor saps. The torture issue ends that argument and yet still the faithful are 100% behind this and would have me expelled from the country if they could.
When did the entire country turn into a bunch of mob like thugs. I'm disappointed on so many levels. This is not what this country was supposed to be about. This place was a haven from the bullshit of oppression and war. Free speech, life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. It sounds like so much hippie bullshit these days but goddamn it, that is what this country is supposed to be about. We're nothing now but a corrupt, mindless pack of assholes, a pathetic and decayed shadow of what could and should have been.
We have no understanding or appreciation of history. There is this unbelievable fucking arrogance to American policy. We seem to think that we're untouchable somehow not subject to the laws of physics. Why didn't they study the problems that Russia had in Afghanistan and think that maybe just maybe we would face the same issues. Study any part of Iraqi history. Godchicken understands more about the various forces at play there than Bush and his advisors seem to. It is inexcusable. For that matter, they could have looked British history, you know "the sun never sets..." We're embarking on a program of colonialism with no fucking clue what we're doing. How long was it before India got cut loose.

The purpose of feminism was never to be like men. However, I think that in many cases, that is just what has happened.
Women started looking around them, looking at what was expected of them vs. what was expected of men. The realized that they were expected to walk on the pristine road of morality with no rewards, while men were allowed to wallow in the ditches of depravity with impunity, and not only impunity, but all the benefits and rewards.
The PURPOSE of feminism was to pull the men up on the road... and walk along together as equals, enjoy all the rewards together.
What actually happened, was the women jumped head first into the ditch.
But that of course, is a picture of only the loudest, most obnoxious feminists, who are in fact the minority.
There are many women with the right idea.
Those women I applaud.

loki, i've just had a Big Realisation!
Recently i've been marching around with everyone else saying how stupid Bush and the yankies are, that they have played right into Osama and co's hands by invading and occupying iraq, palestine, the torture photos, etc etc. ie they have created a perfect breeding ground for terror, matching exactly what Osama would have wanted them to do.
But my Big Realisation of a moment ago is: THE YANKIE CUNTS WANT WAR!! THEY WANT TERRORISTS!! And they are doing everything just right (except their negligence re. the pork).

i'd just been thinking about shandy in that context. it seems our efforts to drive him away from ubersite have failed, and something more drastic is needed.
trouble is, what can be done? a creature like shandy obviously has no family or friends, so quatermain's methods are out. and he seems to thrive on pain and his own sexual humiliation. in fact, humiliation of any kind seems to be his bread and butter. loki's piano practice would probably fail as he has no musical ear or any kind of refinement of taste at all, as evidenced by his coprophagia. i have to admit, i'm stumped.

Or you could always make them watch Michael Moore. But then again, some things are too cruel.

Oh most certainly the fact that they found a woman, such as she is, to portray the part of the dominatrix would weigh very heavily on the Arabic psyche. No doubt similar "tricks" of this nature were once based on the race of the tormentor. The idea is to break the person is it not?
Stanford University did a study on this very issue back in the 70's. Fascinating stuff really if you can look past the knee high football socks and afros.
What if hypothetically, and I do mean purely hypothetically say for the purposes of writing a piece of fiction, you were given the task of breaking a person. How do you go about doing that? If you had time you could be quite creative and sadistic, but they don't have that luxury so they went with the tried and true beating and sexual humiliation routine - very standard really, disappointingly so.
Me - I think I would duct tape them into a chair and force them to listen to me prepare for my upcoming piano recital.

I fear that Genko has a valid point here dear Prickle. See true freedom exists only in an independent environment. To say that feminism is the rejection of all things feminine is a misinterpretation of the goal. The goal is equality not to be men without adams apples.

AHA got it, how about this. Say that you and I are in a situation by which I have some sort of control over you. If I tell you to stick a dildo on your head and you do it, then you are allowing me to take control of your actions. If I tell you to stick a dildo on your head and you decide to rebel and specifically not put a dildo on your head out of the desire not to allow me to control you, then once again I am in control.
True control over your own actions would be for me to either say or not say to put a dildo on your head and then independent of what I have told you to do, you either do or do not put said dildo on your head.
I don't know as that I have adequately expressed the logical flaw in your argument, but no doubt that once the Shandy - Apollo duo happens along, most likely they can elaborate. Well perhaps Shandy can elaborate, no doubt that cunt Apollo will merely see this as an opportune moment to personally experiment with the dildo head gear issue, but perhaps he can report in once he's finished. I have it on good authority that the old boy is only good for 3-4 minutes at best, less when alcohol is involved.
