She's one of those annoying types. Friendly enough, but too friendly. Especially after a couple. 3 pints of piss lager and she's anyone's. You know the sort, standing on tables, getting her tits out, snogging anything that walks. She's just desperate for love and attention. She's always been that way.

He seems like a nice bloke. Everyone says so. But is nothing more than a cunt. Targeting vulnerable young girls, he is a master of control. A classic abuser. The lonely women or girls finally find someone who understands them, listens to them, and cares for them. He is an evil cunt.

These two people meet. He seems like a nice bloke. He listens! He understands! He actually cares! She's perfect. Vulnerable, eager to please, easy to control. As with most of his relationships, he starts off as the perfect caring partner, loving and kind. She's happy. Moves in with him, this is the biggest mistake she makes in her life.

A relationship of fear is created from relentless physical and mental abuse. He is well practiced at this art; fear, intimidation, control. She cannot leave, she loves him. 'When he gets mad, it's my fault' she believes. She will do anything for him. He's the first person who actually listens to me, understands me, and cares for me! She will do anything.

It turns out; this evil cunt has quite a history. He has created many opportunities to act out his evil desires. Gaining positions of trust, and then manipulating young girls into sex and relationships with him or just to rape them. Of course this doesn't go unnoticed or unreported. But incompetence from the authorities, and an understandable reluctance from the victim and there families to pursue lengthy painful processes to maybe ring him to justice, mean he gets away with it!

Then it happened.
She went to her mothers for the night, and went out to town, drinking, snogging anything that moved. He knew her habits, knew what she was up to, and was not happy, his power was undermined, he felt helpless. 2 young girls from the school he works at walk past his window. They like him, he's nice, and he listens to them. He invites them in.

[I don't think we will ever know exactly what happened to these 2 young girls. They were found dead and burnt in a ditch]

A double child murder! Newspaper editors smile. A nation is disgusted and horrified, as if this had never happened before.

'This wasn't him', she convinces herself. Or,
'If I hadn't gone away', she thinks.

They both lie, but are not the smartest cookies in the jar, and are caught. His history is discovered as several previous victims step forward. Newspaper editor's smile, incompetent authorities are to blame! Across the nation the pair are branded evil child killers. He is sent away for a long time. She is sentenced for her lies. That is justice.

It turns out, prison sentences for lying (she wasn't there when he killed the girls), isn't that long. Newspaper editors smile, incompetent authorities, and a short sentence for the child killer. A nation is disgusted and outraged, "how can she be let out?" As if bowing to public opinion, or just following the law of the printed newspapers, the government intervenes. The newspapers don't like it, so the government acts? And she stays in jail.

The moral of this true story?
She is just another victim, but soon Maxine will be free.
If you want to have real power in this country, run a newspaper.

Well written... terse and insightful (god now i sound like the back of a novel) interesting story.

I liked this actually. Bloody well written. The story is all over the newspapers today. Ian has just admitted what actually happened. He said that next week he plans to go on a hunger strike. Said he wants to die. And has created 'live will' which prevents the prision keeping him alive if he trys to kill himself.

Indeed Circe - crime is now genetic I'm told, so in a twist on the equally absurd Christian explanation for the seemingly random portioning out of worldly suffering, how long will it be before the fathers will be punished for the sins of the sons, and the sons go scot free? It's either genetics, drugs or television that denies we poor, moral weaklings the notion of free will these days, I can't remember which - anything as long as the blame is not lain at one's own door.

No. I'm tired of 'victims'. Everyone is a fucking victim. 'My mother didn't love me enough', 'I was abused by my boyfriend', etc. Adults need to accept responsibilty for their own actions. If he was abusing her, she knew what he was capable of. She lied. She covered up for a monster. The two girls in a ditch are victims. She's the willing accomplice of a child-killer.
