I yanked my hand away from Julius. After all he had shown me, I did not want to see anymore.
"Julius, how could you do something like that!?" My voice cracked
"The girl's father RAPED her, Kyle. I saw it, and I couldn't have her live with a monster like him. I couldn't have that on my conscience."
"No. You took a human life, and you were happy about it. I don't care what he did to Lana, it certainly doesn't justify what you did to him."
Julius glared back at me, and for the first time in ten years, I was afraid of another person. Not so much afraid of what he might do to me, but more afraid of what he had shown me. Why was he showing ME these things? What did I do to deserve this burden that now weighs on my mind?
"JUSTIFY!? I wasn't JUSTIFYING anything! That evil CREATURE needed to be punished. What would YOU have done, Kyle!? Go on, out with it!"
For once, I did not have an answer. The tension subsided, and Julius gave a sigh.
"I paid for what I had done to Joseph Highland. Look at me, Kyle. It ruined me completely. But understand this..."
Julius gripped me by the shirt and brought me close. For a brief moment, I was nearly paralyzed with fear.
"... If I had the chance to go back, just one chance, and change everything - I would do it all over again. I have NO regrets."
And with that, Julius gripped my arm, and his story resumed.

The police had them surrounded. The chase didn't last very long. After driving for nearly 16 straight hours, he was bound to screw up somewhere. He couldn't keep running. As much as he loved Lana, it had to end.
"Lana, I want you to go to them. Ok?"
She looked up at him with tears in her eyes. God, her eyes were gorgeous.
"This isn't right for you. You have a life to live."
"Mr. Delmedico, please. I want to stay with you."
Julius almost broke down, but he had to stay strong. Lana embraced him and held him as tight as she could. Unfortunately, Julius loved her too much. He couldn't go on with her. He removed her hands gently.
"For me, Lana. Just go."
Slowly, Lana unfastened her seatbelt, and opened the door. An officer rushed over and scooped the girl into his arms. Julius leaned back, and lit up a cigarette.
He hardly smoked except when he was stressed about something.
But this time was different. Everything seemed right. He had finally achieved a sort of peace of mind. Ironic, considering his present circumstances.
"Get out of the car!" a voice yelled.
Was it his conscience yelling at him? Was it one of the police? He could hear the voice ringing in both his ears and his mind. Perhaps he was listening to more than one source. Maybe it would be best to obey them. Julius put out his cigarette, opened the door, and stepped out.
Hands came from everywhere and pushed him to the ground.
"You have the right to remain silent..." the voices echoed.
