When I was ten years old and planning my future wedding, I had the typical childhood dreams.
Flowing, white gown.
Red roses.
A three-tiered wedding cake, topped with two brides.
Wait. Two brides?
This isn't some deep, profound look into my inner psyche. This is, instead, the story of how Urbane Mischief and I came to exchange vows today.
It all began with tiny clues. The desire to drink from a can instead of a bottle. It grew upon Val's repeated offers.
"Come do me, Kris!"
"You won't regret it!"
"Yes, the inside of a vagina DOES taste like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups."
Instead of rushing to assert my love for men, I found myself intrigued. Perhaps even slightly interested.
Penises don't taste like chocolate covered heaven.
I don't remember much of that day. And night. And morning. I recall a Kermit the Frog puppet. I recollect strategic uses of Twix candy bars. I am told I begged to be called 'Dora the Explorer'.
But let's just say she convinced me. Oh, how she convinced me.
And so today, as gay marriage becomes legal in Massachusetts, we ask you to celebrate this joyous occasion with us. Not with video cameras.
Sorry, Zod. And AJ. And bob. And Monty. And Justin.
