I got drilled in the face with a soccer ball on sunday. I caught a full on boot to the ball square in the eye. It was no minor little "oh, ow, that hurts". I was running almost full speed at the goalie, the ball was kicked, I caught it, right with my eye. I have played soccer for many years now, and have been beaned in a vast panorama of places, resulting in various injuries. Some of which include broken feet, toes and a jaw bone. This was by far the worst ever. It was not that it hurt so much, or that it even hurts that much now. It was only the fear of never being able to see again. When I got hit I spun around and hit the deck. My face and eye were very warm, so I checked for blood. There was none. I then opened my eyes. Fear. My vision was fucked. I could only see out of one eye. My left eye, when open, looked like somone had put a thin silk sheet in front of my eye. Only white, ghostly images appeared before me. I thought I was blinded for life. I had a friend look into my eye, he said there was blood all inside my eye, over my pupil and everything. I almost shat myself. I then went to the hospital, which for some fucking reason was empty. Not one doctor, not one nurse. I almost felt like I was in 28 days later. I then decided to get an eye patch, which all my friends were all for. They feel looking like a damn pirate is cool. I wore it for the rest of the day, it helped, but then a friend pointed out that my nausea and tiredness were probably a concussion. That and the fact that my pupils would not shrink. Slowly throughout sunday my vision got better. I went to bed hoping for the best. I awoke Monday, opened my eyes and was ever so happy. I could see again. The blood had cleared from my pupil and my concussion had gone. I was however left with a very odd looking pupil. I tore my muscle in my eye, and have problems with bright lights. i wil always keep my eye patch. so remember, your eyes are fucking awesome. and you definitely need both to drive...

Good to know.
