You know that road. You know where it starts, you know where it ends, you know how it gets there.
You know where it twists and turns, where it rises and falls. You've seen where the accidents happen, are aware of where you need to be more careful. You know where the hazards are, and how to avoid them. You saw where that one guy chanced his luck, and the results of his risk. You know you can go faster, and also where you should slow down.
Sometimes you travel this road because it is familiar. Other times you travel it because it is the best way to go. And sometimes you travel it for no reason.
You've travelled it many times before. You travelled it everyday, it became part of your routine. There are times when you think you don't want to be on this road, you don't want to go where it takes you. Other times you wonder what you'd do if you could not make the journey anymore.
There have been times when you stopped using the road. You convinced yourself that it was better to use another route. But then you remember that this is your route, and you know it.
You think in times of bravery, that you could navigate the road with your eyes closed. In times of humbleness, you understand that your knowledge of the road may not be what you think it is.
Your road takes you through places where you have never stopped. You wonder sometimes, what it would be like to deviate from the route, if only slightly. And sometimes you do, but it is never quite the same.
When you travel this road you feel like you know what is coming up. You've seen it before, you expect it.
But sometimes, something unexpected happens. And it can change your opinion in an instant.

I personally would have kept using the word 'road' changing to 'route' mid way through jarred me and made me think of an actual journey rather than a 'journey' if you see what I mean.

I got bored halfway through. I won't give you a negative because I was interested for the first half. It has potential. But you need to keep up the pace the whole way through.
