She slams down the phone. Eyes gleaming, hands shaking with excitement, she starts looking for her keys. That had been her friend Sharon on the phone, telling her she still had some cocaine left. Not enough for Sharon's veteran brain to register a hit, but just enough for someone who'd never tried cocaine to feel something. Jackpot! Terri thinks that Suzanne is too young to lose her virginity. She also thinks sex is wrong--the road to damnation (my mother's Catholic roots are showing through her). To me, sex is natural, but, more than that, I know it's inevitable; I'd rather accept it and be there for Suzanne. I told Terri that if I had a kid who told me they were going to try coke that day or have sex for the first time, I'd hand them a condom and leave the house for 2 hours. That's when Terri had started telling me that there was nothing wrong with coke. And that's when I had felt compelled to ask her how she knew that.
So here I am. Between two sisters, watching them embark on new, "adult" experiences. Both excited, both so sure that they are ready for any consequences. Both stubborn and dismissing any of my concerns, thinking it's just because I can't help but exhibit my bossy, eldest child, A-personality traits to the fullest. Maybe there is truth in that. it would depend on their personalities, as in, do they have addictive personalities
are they doing it to please someone else or are they just experimenting?
you have to let them both figure it out for themselves and not judge them on what new things they are trying. (no ultimatums for damn sure)
both can lead you down bad paths but both can also be great learning experiences
i had a friend recently who told me that she had tried coke for the first time, knowing my stance on it (i used to have a bit of a problem with it that ruined several great relationships)
i asked her what she thought about it and how she felt now that she had tried it.
my final response to it was that it is really fun at first but it will never be as good as that first time (odd because sex is the exact opposite, it gets better with practice)
i told her i would give her a month to be have her fill and be done with it.. any longer and i was going to have to pull the big brother card and lecture her on what really happens to people on that drug.

Neither are inherently bad: contrary to popular opinion, coke takes considerable funds and devotion to become truly addicted to, whilst sex is simply a natural, healthy (the right precautions being taken) part of life - I'm only surprised that it's come so late. In my mind, there are some people who seem to be predisposed to addiction to cocaine and its derivitives, and it is they who are awkward and reticent in social stuations. It is these such people who will find that such inhibitions are overcome by cocaine, and who will quickly find that cocaine is "necessary" for a fun night out: it is these people about whom one should worry more about, but you yourself know if she is such a type. Even so, if she doesn't have a large disposable income, it's unlikely that she'd develop a fully-fledged addcition: crack, on the other hand, is a different matter.

Both are fine and completly harmless in moderation if the person has an ounce of sense.
People that subscribe to the blanket idea that drugs are bad or there is such a thing as a "right" age to loose your virginity should really look at themselves and realise they have some anal hangups and let the people who they are preaching to make their own goddam decisions.
