The "Rick James Bitch" joke has become an epidemic. It is hard to go anywhere without hearing the utterance of that phrase. This is all traced back to a "Dave Chapelle Show" episode, where Rick James slaps a woman saying, "I'm Rick James Bitch." Everyone knows what I'm talking about, because everyone has seen or heard it already.
The skit on the show was massively hilarious, but what surprised me was the astounding number of people who do not even know who Rick James is. This post will be dedicated to teach people who Rick James really is.
First, I will tell you a story. It all happened the day after the "Chapelle's Show" skit aired. I was strolling along to lunch during school, when a female cohort of mine steps in front of me, proceeds to slap me, and says "I'm Rick James Bitch." Well this made me laugh because the skit was very funny. But when I said, "The good old Super Freak eh?" I received a dumbfounded look of complete bewilderment. I could not believe that this person did not even know who Rick James was, yet found that the joke was funny.
That ends that story, but it does not end my quest. For the past few months after the skit aired, I am still hearing Rick James Bitch every-which-way but loose. And when I ask people if they even know who Rick James is, they usually say no. I would say about 90% of people who say the line do not even know who Rick James is. To truly understand the joke you need to know who Rick James truly is.
The short biography of Rick James:
Born James Johnson, Jr., Feb. 1, 1948 in Buffalo, N.Y.
After a decade of trying to make it Rick James cracked through in 1977 when he formed the Stone City Band and signed with Motown. With his "funk 'n' roll" sound patterned after Funkadelic, Rick James traded in a raunchy rock that delighted in easy pre-AIDS era sex and drug use. By 1981, he was at the top of the charts with such naughty novelties as "Super Freak" and "Give It To Me Baby." He also produced the smash hit by Eddie Murphy "Party all the Time".
Now, you know who Rick James was. I was sure after saying Super Freak people would know him, since everyone knows that song. But evidently that is not true. So if you are one of the little asshat fiends who do not know the song, here it is:

The real reason why the joke is funny is because Rick James went to jail for beating women. To truly understand the joke, you need to know this. That's why he slaps women, he is a woman beater. Well, now you can truly laugh at the joke and acually know what your talking about when you say it. I would acually prefer you stop saying it, however, since it has gotten severely old. Well, you have wasted enough of your pathetic time reading this, go away now.
