Ah yes, I'm sure most of you have heard of RL Stine's Goosebumps series. Hell, when I was a kid, I had a whole bunch of em. I think I had somewhere around 30 of those things.
The books were never that scary, however they were still entertaining to read, and some of them were quite good. My favorite had to be Say Cheese And Die.
OVERVIEW: A boy and his friends come across an old abandoned house where they find a portable camera. When they take pictures of each other, the photos come out strange. The photos show something slightly different, and whatever the photos show eventually come true.
Now, the story itself is pretty cool. It would definately be quite entertaining to a 10 year old kid with nothing better to do than to pick up a book and read. However, the only trouble I've ever had with RL Stine is that he can't write for shit.
Pick up one of his books sometime. He writes children's books, yet his writing style seems to have never matured beyond that of a child. The TV show never appealed to me either. It was almost as bad as that Nickelodeon soap opera, 16. Remember how quickly that shit left the airwaves? The bad acting just didn't do the books justice.
Although, Stine redeemed himself when he began the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure series of Goosebumps. Those were fun. I would always cheat and look around before I actually continued the story. Good times, good times.
The Maio-meter says:
PLOT: 9/10
STYLE: 6/10
HUMOR: 7/10
OVERALL: 7.5/10
Read them again for old time's sake.

RL Stine was a cocktease.
He's talk about drinking at teen parties, but just when I thought he was going to start describing a graphic hardcore sex scene, he fucking changed again.

What about "Monster Blood" and "Night of the Living Dummy". Those were classic.

Goosebumps own. My fav book in the series was the one where the kid learns to fly. I laughed my ass off when he had to hop around like a douche.

I LOVED these books. However I have to say that the summer camp one was way better than Say Cheese amnd Die, altho I can't remember the title right now.... Dammit, now I have to go dig through my box of old books.... I'll get back to you.
But yeah, Goosebumps ruled!

I used to own them all when I was 9. They were awesome and scary. You're right, Say Cheese and Die owned.
