I am a third generation Californian who now lives in Georgia. I have to admit that I spend a lot of time wishing that I could come back home for good--that is, until I visit the place.
Southern California, where I am from, is a dirty, ill-maintained, deforested hell-hole, which is populated by narcissistic money-grubbers, many of whom would sell their grandmothers for the price of a new electronic toy, a status symbol car or even the price of a marginally amusing night on the town.
As a native Californian, I can honestly say that Californians and California deserve every nasty thing that is said about them. They're fucked.
I know that this post will get shitty reviews. I don't care. I only hope that it will cause any potential tourists from elsewhere to consider another vacation destination. A trip to any other destination, even if it is camping in a tent in your own backyard, would be money better spent!

I hate (most) californians. Especially the ones that go 90 on the freeways and cut you off.
Go back to california, you dumb bastard! Whenever I see a californian license plate, I get pissed.

Chicago is like california without the yuppies and palm trees, although now palm trees are starting to pop up here and there, and the yuppie population is increasing

Meh, San Jose and the Bay Area ain't so bad, but then again, I have nothing to compare it to seeing has how i've lived here for my entire conscious life.

I was born and raised in El Cajon but have been away for 30 years. I'm sure that my memories or are far better that real life. I remember no smog and rush hour trafic but then the migration from the east coast happened in the 60s. Combine that with the wave of beaners from the south and I am sure that your assement of So Cal is right on target.

First, I don't have a right or left nut but I know what you are trying to say. My husband is from San Diego. His family had a homestead there in the 19th century and have been there ever since. He won't go back either--for the similar reasons. Oh well!

Southern orange county used to be awesome too, like Laguna and Corona Del Mar. but too many yuppies have moved in. Mission Viejo is still a nice place to live.
As for the people, well usually the egotists and plastic people are not native Californians. they are posers from the east coast. Native Califonians contrary to popular belief are predominantly good honest modest people.
