Recently, in and around Philadelphia, sports writers have been latching on to the story of Smarty Jones. They believe that if Smarty Jones wins the Triple Crown, it will break the 21 year championship drought. They are all full of fucking shit.
There is no grueling two month playoff run, only to lose in game seven, one short of the finals. There will be no parade down Broad Street, he never signed a big contract, and there is no chance of a repeat. Why do they think that this will be a moment that every sports fan in Philadelphia will care about?
When the Flyers lost game seven, I heard someone say something like "At least we have Smarty!?
How does the possibility of a Triple Crown from a three old horse that trains outside Philadelphia make losing the chance to go to the finals ok?!
I'm starting to turn my back on Philadelphia fans. Most will only come around when there is a possibility of something great happening.
I can't stand the bandwagon. Make a choice. Follow it or don't. And don't act like you know what you?re talking about when you just repeat what someone on PTI said.
I'm frustrated with Philadelphia sports, but more so with their fans. Grow some fucking balls and take the loss, don't try and love something that won't be there for you in a few years.
Almost forgot.

I was bartending the night that the flyers lost. Four drunken, middle-aged, overweight, female Flyers fans came into the bar. I knew that they were Flyers fans because they were all wearing Flyers jerseys, hats, etc. They ordered four shots. With the shots, they gave the following toast:
